Abstract: | A series of radicals formed when a fast beam of deuterated ions, DCO] +, DOCO] +, CD3OD2]+ and (CD) 2COD] +, is neutralized by electron transfer from K. Na and Zn atoms has been studied by a combination of charge stripping and beam scattering techniques For all systems studied, some fraction of The radicals from charge exchange are formed in excited dissociative states. Radical decomposition products have been identified and fragmentation energies have been measured. A metastable slate of CD3GD2 is observed with a lifetime greater than 0.5 μs. Stable radicals of DCO and (CD3)2 COD are formed by ion–Zn charge exchange. Indirect evidence indicates that DCO] +–K charge exchang; leads to an excited radiative state of the radical. |
