| Abstract: | Abstract Catalytic amount of ytterbium(III) triflate [Yb(OTf)3] has been used to catalyze Friedel–Crafts acylation and demethylation of aryl‐methyl ethers in one‐step reaction to produce hydroxyacylphenones with moderate yields under mild conditions. |
