Abstract:This paper reports the synthesis of six new vanadium complexes of a Schiff base derived from Tranexamic acid. All the complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, infrared, electronic spectra, and mass spectrometry. FTIR data reveals that the Schiff base acts as a bidentate and the complexes exhibit the hexa-coordinated geometry in solid state. These complexes were screened for their biological activity against various bacterial and fungal strains. All the ligands show higher activity after complexation. The crystal structure of the Zwitter ion of the Tranexamic acid has been determined by X-ray single crystal diffraction. The text was submitted by the authors in English.
