Abstract: | Explicit expressions have been found for the electric current density created in a solid dielectric due to inertial, di = mpole, and quadrupole polarizations of the molecules and atoms in the presence of an external magnetic field and a mechanical disturbance of the medium. We show the importance of considering these polarizations in explaining the electromagnetic radiation from microcracks in dielectric and the formation of surface electric charges in them whose values are the greater the lower the characteristic linear dimension of the microcracks.Translated from Izvestiya Vysshikh Uchebnykh Zavedenii, Fizika, No. 1, pp. 20–25, January, 1995. |
