| Abstract: | Horner-Wadsworth Emmons olefination followed by asymmetric hydrogenation allowed the first synthetic access to the chiral thiotryptophan with good enantiomeric excess. Oxazolidinone formation followed by a Pictet–Spengler condensation provided the benzothiophenic analog of Azatoxin. |
