| Abstract: | Abstract This paper introduces the main Chinese research work on the chemical modification of natural polymers including silk, Chinese lacquer, gutta-percha, cellulose, and chitin. The following aspects of this research work are emphasized: research on the mechanism of graft copolymerization of vinyl monomer onto natural polymers, research on overcoming the defects of natural polymers to allow further application by chemical modification, and research on exploring new applications of natural polymers. |
