Carousels,Zindler curves and the floating body problem

A carousel is a dynamical system that describes the movement of an equilateral linkage in which the midpoint of each rod travels parallel to it. They are closely related to the floating body problem. We prove, using the work of Auerbach, that any figure that floats in equilibrium in every position is drawn by a carousel. Of special interest are such figures with rational perimetral density of the floating chords, which are then drawn by carousels. In particular, we prove that for some perimetral densities the only such figure is the circle, as the problem suggests.     

Relation between the Hydrodynamic and Elastic Parameters in Surface Wave Diffraction on a Floating Plate

The problem of surface wave diffraction on a floating elastic plate is considered. The relation between the parameters of the elastic vibrations of the plate and the transmitted and reflected wave amplitudes is investigated. It is shown that the maximum amplitudes of the plate stresses and deflections depend nonmonotonically on the incident wave frequency and are reached simultaneously with the maxima of both the transmission coefficient and the length of the wave penetrating into the plate. This makes it possible to use the transmission coefficient as a parameter for investigating the maximum and minimum amplitudes of the hydroelastic vibrations of the plate. As an example, this criterion is used to minimize the vibrations of a plate whose leading edge is elastically connected to the bottom.

提出了一种用优化方法求解平台破损进水后浮态和初稳性的方法,并用所编制的计算机程序对平台破损后的浮态和初稳性进行了计算。文中给出了某一平台在下沉就位过程中的计算实例,计算结果表明:利用优化方法来求解平台破损进水后的浮态和初稳性是切实可行的.     

Numerical analysis of finite amplitude motion of waves and a moored floating body under severe storm conditions

The motion of a moored floating body under the action of wave forces, which is influenced by fluid forces, shape of the floating body and mooring forces, should be analysed as a complex coupled motion system. Especially under severe storm conditions or resonant motion of the floating body it is necessary to consider finite amplitude motions of the waves, the floating body and the mooring lines as well as non-linear interactions of these finite amplitude motions. The problem of a floating body has been studied on the basis of linear wave theory by many researchers. However, the finite amplitude motion under a correlated motion system has rarely been taken into account. This paper presents a numerical method for calculating the finite amplitude motion when a floating body is moored by non-linear mooring lines such as chains and cables under severe storm conditions.

中国境内IGS站数据处理及地壳运动研究

利用中国境内国际GPS大地测量和地球动力学服务(IGS)站的GPS单天数据,使用GAMIT软件对其进行基线解算.以单天解的基线结果作为输入量,利用所介绍的台站漂移数学模型,求解台站漂移速度,得到地壳运动信息;再根据板块运动欧拉定理,求解中国大陆整体的欧拉矢量.结果表明,在ITRF2000框架下,求解的台站漂移速度与IGS公布的结果相近,由此求解的中国大陆整体的欧拉矢量与采用IGS公布数据计算的结果相近.
