The fracture behavior of a core-shell rubber (CSR) modified epoxy is investigated using both fracture mechanics and microscopy tools. The CSR-modified epoxy is found to be toughened via numerous line-array cavitations of the CSR particles, followed by plastic flow of the epoxy matrix. The toughening effect via the above craze-like damage process is found to be as effective as that of the well-known widespread rubber cavitation/matrix shear yielding mechanisms. The conditions for triggering the craze-like damage appear to be both stress state and rubber concentration dependent. The type of rubber tougheners utilized also plays a critical role in triggering this rather unusual craze-like damage in epoxy systems. © 1993 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

We have assessed the feasibility of carrying out time- and wavelength-resolved laser-induced fluorescence measurements of radiation damage in glassy silica. The consequences of alpha decay of Es-253 in LaPO4 nanophases embedded in silica were probed based on excitation of 5f states of Cm3+, Bk3+, and Es3+ ions. The recorded emission spectra and luminescence decays showed that alpha decay of Es-253 ejected Bk-249 decay daughter ions into the surrounding silica and created radiation damage within the LaPO4 nanophases. This conclusion is consistent with predictions of an ion transport code commonly used to model ion implantation. Luminescence from the 6D7/2 state of Cm3+was used as an internal standard. Ion-ion energy transfer dominated the dynamics of the observed emitting 5f states and strongly influenced the intensity of observed spectra. In appropriate sample materials, laser-induced fluorescence provides a powerful method for fundamental investigation of alpha-induced radiation damage in silica.  相似文献

In this paper, the shapes of plasma produced by a Q-switched YAG laser acted repeatedly upon a CCD with MOS structure are used, to investigate the destroying process of the optoelectronic device. The irradiation‐induced damages and structure modifications of rare earths doped powellite single crystal have been precisely studied using optical and electron microscopy techniques, including optical interferometry, confocal micro‐Raman spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The surface of powellite crystal pops out anisotropically after exposing under Ar ion beam, with a saturation swelling value of 2.0% along a‐axis and 1.3% along the c‐axis of powellite at high dose. Raman mapping on focused ion‐beam sections (5 × 3 µm2) perpendicular to the irradiated surface reveals that irradiation damage induces orientation‐dependent compressive stresses in powellite. However, no significant anisotropic effect has been found on the irradiation‐induced structural disorder in powellite. At low dose (0.012 dpa), the main irradiation‐induced defects created in powellite crystal are small defect clusters. A series of Hf:Fe:LiNbO3 crystals were grown by the Czochralski technique with various doping concentrations of HfO2. Their defect structures were analyzed by the UV-visible absorption spectra and infrared absorption spectra. The optical damage resistance of Hf:Fe:LiNbO3 crystals was measured by the photo-induced birefringence change and the transmitted light spot distortion method. The results show that the optical damage resistance ability of Hf:Fe:LiNbO3 crystals enhances remarkably with the HfO2 concentration increasing when the HfO2 concentration is lower than its threshold concentration (4 mol%). However, when the HfO2 concentration exceeds its threshold concentration, the optical damage resistance ability of the crystals returns to decrease. This unusual behavior is explained by using the photovoltaic field produced in the crystals.  相似文献

Ion-ion plasmas can form in the late afterglow of pulsed discharges or downstream of continuous wave discharges in electronegative gases. In ion-ion plasmas, negative ions replace electrons as the negative charge carriers. In the absence of electrons, ion-ion plasmas behave quite differently compared to conventional electron-ion plasmas. Application of a radio frequency bias to a substrate immersed in an ion-ion plasma can be used to extract alternately positive and negative ions, thereby minimizing charging on device features during micro-device fabrication. Ion-ion plasmas are also important in negative ion sources, dusty plasmas, and the D-layer of the earth's atmosphere.  相似文献

In this paper, based on the theorem of the high-order velocity energy, integration and variation principle, the high-order Hamilton's principle of general holonomic systems is given. Then, three-order Lagrangian equations and four-order Lagrangian equations are obtained from the high-order Hamilton's principle.
