Effects of medium and chemical modification on thermal characteristics of Β-lactoglobulin

The thermal properties of -lactoglobulin (-LG) were studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) under different medium conditions.pH, neutral salts, protein perturbants, and polyols all affected the DSC characteristics of -LG. Acylation with fatty acids also changed the thermal properties, particularly peak width at half-height. The results suggest that the structural stability of -LG is controlled by non-covalent forces, particularly electrostatic and hydrophobic interactions. Disulfide bonds did not contribute to the thermal response of -LG. Fatty N-acyl-amino acids caused marked increases in thermal stability and decreases in denaturation enthalpy, and additional peaks were observed in the presence of some palmitoyl derivatives.Contribution No. 2310, Centre for Food and Animal Research.We thank D. Synthesis of 4,4′-bis(4-aminophenoxy)benzophenone and polyimides based on this compound

Synthesis of 4,4-bis(4-aminophenoxy)benzophenone was performed starting from chloral. Various polyimides were obtained by reactions of 4,4 -bis(4-aminophenoxy)benzophenone with aromatic tetracarboxylic acid dianhydrides. Optical Properties of Films of Cu x Ag1−x InSe2 Solid Solutions Obtained by Laser Evaporation

The structure and optical properties of the films of ternary compounds AgInSe₂, CuInSe₂ and Cu _x Ag_1–x InSe₂ solid solutions obtained by pulsed laser evaporation are investigated. It has been established that the films like bulk crystals have the structure of chalcopyrite. By the transmission and reflection spectra near the edge of natural absorption the refractive index and coefficient of optical absorption are calculated and the energies of interband transitions and the crystalline and spinorbit splitting are determined.

Quiesent Crystallization Kinetics of Nucleated Metallocene and ZN Isotactic Polypropylenes

Crystallization kinetics and thermodynamic properties of nucleated isotactic polypropylene (PP) are analyzed using Hoffman—Lauritzen crystallization theory to determine the mechanistic effects of the nucleators. Calorimetric data provides quantitative comparisons between nucleating efficiences of the (Millad) and (NJSTAR) nucleator in Metallocene (M) and Ziegler—Natta (ZN) PP. The two types of PP without nucleators showed similar crystallization behavior though the T°_m for ZN-iPP was about 10°C higher than M-iPP. Both nucleators show significant improvement in crystallization rate in both types of PP. In addition, Millad outperforms NJSTAR. The magnitude of the kinetic response is,however, different and both the nucleators appear to function better in ZN than in Metallocene PP. nucleated PP shows predominantly the form. The amount of the form is thermal history dependent and changes with supercooling (T=T°_m–T_c). Similar equilibrium melting temperature (T°_m) in the nucleated and control PPs indicates the lack of any thermodynamic effect of the nucleator. All nucleated PPs show a much lower secondary nucleation rate constant, K_g.This revised version was published online in November 2005 with corrections to the Cover Date.     

圆盘离心沉降法测定固体粉末的粒度分布

本文报道用圆盘离心沉降法对几种粉末样品的粒径大小及粒度分布测定的结果,并且讨论了颗粒形状、消光系数和粉末分散状态等因素的影响。试验结果表明,在给定的条件下,利用LKY-1型微粒测定仪对粉末粒度测定的重复性好,尤其适用于测定微细粉末的粒度分布;当石墨或MoS_2粉末样品的浓度为0.5％时,选用4％鞣酸作分散剂的效果最好。作者认为,固然光密度与微粒的消光系数有关,但对于黑灰色的粉末样品而言,因其产生的光学效应非常微弱,故可近似地把消光系数视为常数而忽略它的影响。     

点式压电智能结构的模型修正与振动主动控制

提出了在点式压电智能结构中应用摄动有限元方法对结构的有限元模型进行修正 ,从而达到提高建模精度 ,改善实际结构振动主动控制效果的目的。通过对一悬臂梁在模型修正前后进行振动主动控制的不同的控制效果验证了该方法的有效性
