Well-Posedness by Perturbations of Variational Problems

In this paper, we consider the extension of the notion of well-posedness by perturbations, introduced by Zolezzi for optimization problems, to other related variational problems like inclusion problems and fixed-point problems. Then, we study the conditions under which there is equivalence of the well-posedness in the above sense between different problems. Relations with the so-called diagonal well-posedness are also given. Finally, an application to staircase iteration methods is presented.

Scalarization for pointwise well-posed vectorial problems

The aim of this paper is to develop a method of study of Tykhonov well-posedness notions for vector valued problems using a class of scalar problems. Having a vectorial problem, the scalarization technique we use allows us to construct a class of scalar problems whose well-posedness properties are equivalent with the most known well-posedness properties of the original problem. Then a well-posedness property of a quasiconvex level-closed problem is derived.      

Well-posedness of a multidimensional free boundary problem modelling the growth of nonnecrotic tumors

In this paper we study a free boundary problem modelling the growth of nonnecrotic tumors. The main trait of this free boundary problem is that it is essentially multidimensional, so that its well-posedness is hard to establish by using the usual methods in the classical theory of free boundary problems. In this paper we use the functional analysis method based on the theory of analytic semigroups to prove that this problem has a unique local solution in suitable function spaces. Continuous dependence of the solution on the initial data and regularities of the solution can also be easily obtained by using the argument of this paper.

研究了高频超声应用中带无穷退化记忆项的Moore-Gibson-Thompson方程τu_(ttt)+α(x)u_(tt)-c^(2)Δu-bΔu_(t)+∫^(∞)_(0)g(s)div[a(x)▽u(t-s)]ds=0解的适定性和衰减速率,其中非负函数a(x)和α(x)是可退化的并满足a(x)+α(x)≥δ>0.该系统是由黏性热松弛流体中波传播模型的线性化而得到的.通过使用Faedo-Galerkin逼近和能量估计,证明了解的适定性.在适当的假设下,通过构造适当的李雅普诺夫泛函,建立了能量的指数或一般衰减结果.     

Periodic Solutions of Third-order Differential Equations with Finite Delay in Vector-valued Functional Spaces

In this paper, we study the well-posedness of the third-order differential equation with finite delay(P_3): αu'"(t) + u"(t) = Au(t) + Bu'(t) + Fut +f(t)(t ∈ T := [0,2π]) with periodic boundary conditions u(0) = u(2π), u'(0) = u"(2π),u"(0)=u"(2π) in periodic Lebesgue-Bochner spaces Lp(T;X) and periodic Besov spaces B_(p,q)~s(T;X), where A and B are closed linear operators on a Banach space X satisfying D(A) ∩ D(B) ≠ {0}, α≠ 0 is a fixed constant and F is a bounded linear operator from Lp([-2π, 0]; X)(resp. Bp,qs([-2π, 0]; X)) into X, ut is given by ut(s) = u(t + s) when s ∈ [-2π,0]. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the Lp-well-posedness(resp. B_(p,q)~s-well-posedness)of(P_3) are given in the above two function spaces. We also give concrete examples that our abstract results may be applied.     

Nonlocal Interaction Equations in Environments with Heterogeneities and Boundaries

We study well-posedness of a class of nonlocal interaction equations with spatially dependent mobility. We also allow for the presence of boundaries and external potentials. Such systems lead to the study of nonlocal interaction equations on subsets ? of ? ^d endowed with a Riemannian metric g. We obtain conditions, relating the interaction potential and the geometry, which imply existence, uniqueness and stability of solutions. We study the equations in the setting of gradient flows in the space of probability measures on ? endowed with Riemannian 2-Wasserstein metric.     

Levitin–Polyak well-posedness of generalized quasivariational inequalities with functional constraints

In this paper, we study Levitin–Polyak type well-posedness for generalized quasivariational inequality problems with explicit constraints. Four types of Levitin–Polyak well-posedness will be introduced. Various criteria and characterizations will be derived for these types of Levitin–Polyak well-posedness.     

Well-posedness results for a model of damage in thermoviscoelastic materials

This paper deals with a phase transitions model describing the evolution of damage in thermoviscoelastic materials. The resulting system is highly non-linear, mainly due to the presence of quadratic dissipative terms and non-smooth constraints on the variables. Existence and uniqueness of a solution are proved, as well as regularity results, on a suitable finite time interval.     

Efficient and stable perfectly matched layer for CEM

An efficient unsplit perfectly matched layer for numerical simulation of electromagnetic waves in unbounded domains is derived via a complex change of variables. In order to surround a Cartesian grid with the PML, the time-dependent PML requires only one (scalar) auxiliary variable in two space dimensions and six (scalar) auxiliary variables in three space dimensions. It is therefore cheap and straightforward to implement. We use Fourier and energy methods to prove the stability of the PML. We extend the stability result to a semi-discrete PML approximated by central finite differences of arbitrary order of accuracy and to a fully discrete problem for the ‘Leap-Frog’ schemes. This makes precise the usefulness of the derived PML model for longtime simulations. Numerical experiments are presented, illustrating the accuracy and stability of the PML.
