One-Dimensional Poisson Growth Models With Random and Asymmetric Growth

Suppose there is a Poisson process of points X _i on the line. Starting at time zero, a grain begins to grow from each point X _i , growing at rate A _i to the left and rate B _i to the right, with the pairs (A _i , B _i ) being i.i.d. A grain stops growing as soon as it touches another grain. When all growth stops, the line consists of covered intervals (made up of contiguous grains) separated by gaps. We show (i) a fraction 1/e of the line remains uncovered, (ii) the fraction of covered intervals which contain exactly k grains is (k–1)/k!, (iii) the length of a covered interval containing k grains has a gamma(k–1) distribution, (iv) the distribution of the grain sizes depends only on the distribution of the total growth rate A _i +B _i , and other results. Similar theorems are obtained for growth processes on a circle; in this case we need only assume the pairs (A _i , B _i ) are exchangeable. These results extend those of Daley, et al. (2000) who studied the case where A _i =B _i =1. Simulation results are given to illustrate the various theorems.

一、引 言 利用垂直场反馈控制等离子体位移是所有托卡马克装置运行的重要组成部分。对于中小型的托卡马克装置,人们曾倾向于用大功率晶闸管作反馈系统的调节器。它所遇到的主要困难有:第一需要有一个较大功率的中频电源。无论是中频发电机或者是逆变器都需要有较大的投资。另一方面受到中频电源的频率及晶闸管的关断时间的限制使反馈系统的时间响     

垂直外腔面发射半导体激光器的双波长调控研究

报道了一种结构紧凑的垂直外腔面发射激光器（Vertical-External-Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser,VECSEL）及其双波长调控。通过调控泵浦光功率,实现了VECSEL输出的两个激光波长之间的相互转换,双波长的间隔接近50 nm。VECSEL的输出功率曲线呈现明显的两次翻转,翻转点对应了激射波长的转换。这是由于泵浦功率变化改变了增益芯片内部的温度,进而通过热调谐使得发光区增益峰值被调谐到腔模的不同位置。在0℃时,每个激射波长的最大输出功率都在1.5 W以上。随着泵浦功率的改变,激射波长可以在950 nm和1000 nm之间切换,同时还可以在1.5 W以上的功率水平下实现双波长同时激射。这种可切换波长及双波长同时激射的VECSEL器件在光调制、差频等领域有较大应用潜力。     

Analysis of long-term distributions of calibration parameters and calibration intervals for an atomic absorption spectrophotometer

 A combination of "black box" and "calendar-time" methods for the determination of calibration intervals of an analytical measuring instrument is discussed. Since the methods require information on the distributions of the calibration parameters, such information is described for an atomic absorption spectrophotometer, as an example. The hypotheses on the normal distribution of the calibration parameters are tested using the ω²-criterion and accepted at 0.90–0.95 levels of confidence. Corresponding control charts are designed for indication of warning and action limits of the calibration parameters, and diagnoses of outliers in further calibrations. Control charts indicate also when the calibration should be done according to the full program of the equipment manufacturer. Received: 15 April 2000 / Accepted: 24 July 2000
