The concepts of MGIS (Mobile Geographic Information System), LBS (Location Based Service) and MGI Service (Mobile Geographic Information Service) were introduced first. Then the consistency of the three wireless Internet access technology, WAP (Wireless Application Protocol), i-mode and J2ME (Java 2 Micro Edition) were proposed not only from the surfaces, but also from the architectures. Based on the analysis of the WAP, i-mode and J2ME, the suggested suitable field of each technology was discussed. WAP and i-mode are adapted to fields of public services in wireless Internet field with Browser/Server structures, and J2ME is adapted to the fields of private services in wireless Internet field with Client/Server structure. There are no competitions among these three technologies, and each of the three is a tactical technology. They will coexist for a long period, and now we should focus more on how to use a new integrated architecture of different technologies to solve more complex spatial-related questions in the mobile service field than discussing which one is the best. And maybe all three will be replaced in the future when a brand-new direct-connected way to browse the Internet Geographic Information Web Service is developed.

NTT DoCoMo是日本最大的移动通信公司,主要提供2.5G的i-mode和3G的FOMA服务。DoCoMo在国内的战略是将i-mode构建成开放式的移动网络;实现一步到位的3G战略,推出价格便宜的FOMA服务。但由于准备不足,DoCoMo在推进FOMA服务时出师不利。DoCoMo在进军国际市场时注重了地域及合作伙伴的选择。  相似文献

NTT DoCoMo公司的i-mode系统自1999年2月推出后,在商业领域取得了巨大成功,成为世界电信业的一个亮点。它向用户提供了极为丰富的移动电话分组数据业务,截止2001年10月用户数已达2800万。DoCoMo公司已准备在近期推出3G试验网。目前,中国正处在发展3G的关键阶段,把DoCoMo公司的i-mode系统作为一个成功的案例加以分析,并从中吸取相关的经验,对中国移动通信事业的发展是大有益处的。这里还分析了中国向3G平稳过渡的一种可行策略。  相似文献

目前,移动门户领域竞争激烈,主要有四类竞争者:移动运营商、ISP、新加入者和软硬件提供商,其中处于优势的移动门户大部分由移动运营商建立。相比于欧洲门户的紧缩,日本i-mode因其技术优势、低成本和有效的提供商与运营商间的分配机制而大获成功。欧洲移动运营商由此进行了一系列改进。在移动门户提供的服务特点上,第三方提供服务在亚洲很流行,在欧洲和北美也逐渐成为主流。  相似文献

Japan is leading the world with the adoption of new mobile data services such as Internet services and with a resulting boost in data ARPU (average revenue per user). In the development of these services, many functions have been integrated into mobile handsets, which has resulted in a convergence of, so far, separate consumer electronic devices. This article addresses the following questions: What are the drivers of this process? What could European players, in particular the European policymakers do to catch up? According to our research, a major driver of the process in Japan is tough competition among operators, which in turn is driven by factors such as competition in mobile radio infrastructure. The author arrives at the following conclusions for European policies: (1) There should be more awareness of the Japanese lead, e.g., of the crucial role of Internet push e-mail. (2) Europe could benefit from more operators willing to bear the risk of introducing new technologies. (3) For a successful introduction of infrastructure competition, it could make sense to make spectrum bands available with European-wide licenses.  相似文献
