Many proposed packet switching systems for high-speed networks have employed the Batcher–banyan fabric due to its modular structure, self-routeing functionality, and distributed conflict-resolving mechanism. In this paper, we present a systematic fault-tolerant design for the Batcher–banyan class of switches. Our first concern is the development of an on-line error detection mechanism which is the prerequisite of any effective fault tolerant operation. Based on the technique developed by Davis, we propose a general fault-testing technique and verify it for a variety of unique-path self-routeing networks. Furthermore, we extend this method to Batcher sorting networks and construct a fault-tolerant Batcher sorter. Lastly, after contemplating the technique constraints and system performance, we deploy the above techniques into different levels of the Batcher–banyan networks and achieve a fault-tolerant version of the StarBurst switch, a member of the Batcher–banyan class of switches. 相似文献

In this paper, we propose a synchronous WDMA protocol for a passive star topology and suggest a new architecture for the network interface of each station. The multichannel nature of WDM networks involves receiver collision phenomena at the destination. We develop an analytical model based on a finite number of tunable receivers and a finite number of stations to investigate the performance of the proposed protocol. Numerical results are showing the performance behaviour for various number of channels, stations, and tunable receivers. Also simulation results are presented for comparison with the results obtained by the performance analysis. 相似文献

This paper describes a performance analysis of an incoherent optical code-division multiple-access scheme based on wavelength/time (W/T) codes. The system supports 16 users operating at 2.5Gb/s/user while maintaining bit-error rate (BER) < 10−11 for the correctly decoded signal. It has been observed that there are two major problems giving rise to performance degradation of the system in terms of number of users and type of code.In this paper we have studied the optical simulator Encoding/Decoding for different lengths & gain in terms of Quality factor (Q) and Bit Error Rate (BER) performance. The system supports 16 users while maintaining bit-error rate (BER) < 10−11 for the correctly decoded signal. Our aim is to design and simulate a Tree Network Topology Optical Code Division Multiple Access System for large number of users using wavelength–time code and to analyze the performance of the system based on BER and Eye Diagram under the influence of number of simultaneous users with different received powers. 相似文献

分析了波分复用(WDM)光码分多址(OCDMA)系统的归一吞吐量性能。当同时用户数均匀分配到不同的波长时,得到了WDM OCDMA系统归一化吞吐量性能的上界;当同时用户数尽量分配到同一个波长时,得到了WDM OCDMA系统归一化吞吐量性能的下界。在所有用户均匀分配到不同波长信道的条件下,比较了WDM OCDMA与多波长(MW)OCDMA系统的归一化吞吐量性能。结果表明,当负载较小时,两者的性能基本相当;当负载较大时,WDM 0CDMA的性能优于MW OCDMA系统。同时,WDM OCDMA的归一化吞吐量峰值高于MW OCDMA系统的归一化吞吐量峰值。 相似文献
