Flat-top interleavers with chromatic dispersion compensator based on phase dispersive free space Mach-Zehnder interferometer

In this paper, novel interleavers using circular cavities (CC) in a Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI) has been presented and demonstrated for the first time, in which CCs act as phase dispersive mirrors which exhibit a periodic dependence on the frequency of light. Three implementation schemes have been proposed and investigated. Theoretical analysis shows the spectral characteristics of each scheme in a 50-GHz channel spacing application. Furthermore, the chromatic dispersion (CD) of each output comb can be flattened within passband by appending an additional CC. The result shows that the proposed designs with novel interferometer technique can simultaneously provide flat top passbands, high isolation stopband and low CD value as well.     

固体CD光谱研究及其应用于手性席夫碱M(II)配合物

结合课题组近期的相关研究,对固体CD光谱在手性配合物研究中的应用,特别是手性样品固体CD光谱的测试方法进行了概述,通过对四对手性席夫碱M(II)(M=Ni、Cu)配合物的固体和溶液CD光谱进行比较研究,发现配合物的手性构型在固液相中保持一致,但其固液CD光谱之间存在不同程度的差异,可能是由于相应配合物在固体和溶液相中的四面体扭曲或构象的微妙不同所致.     

Spectroscopic properties of Carcinus aestuarii hemocyanin and its structural subunits

Hemocyanin (Hc) of Carcinus aestuarii contains three major and one minor electrophoretically separable polypeptide chains which were purified by fast protein liquid chromatography (FPLC) ion exchange chromatography. N-terminal amino acid sequences of four structural subunits (SSs) from C. aestuarii were compared with known N-terminal sequences from other arthropodan hemocyanins. The conformational changes, induced by various treatments, were monitored by far UV, CD and fluorescence spectroscopy. The critical temperatures for the structural subunits, Tc, determined by fluorescence spectroscopy, are in the region of 52-59 degrees C and coincide with the melting temperatures, Tm (49-55 degrees C), determined by CD spectroscopy. The free energy of stabilization in water, delta GDH2O, toward guanidinium hydrochloride is about 1.3 times higher for the dodecameric Hc as compared to the isolated subunits and about one time higher for Cal, comparing with other SSs. The studies reveal that the conformational stability of the native dodecamer towards various denaturants (temperature and guanidinium hydrochloride) indicate that the quaternary structure is stabilized by oligomerization between structural subunits, and the possibility of a structural role of the sugar mojeties cannot be excluded.

New aspects of the protonation of biliverdins

Biliverdins undergo appreciable self association in acidic solutions especially if solvents like benzene or chloroform are employed. The population of aggregates further depends on the concentration of both the acid and the solute. In chloroform and benzene solutions at high acidity a doubly protonated species is formed. This is concluded from a combinatory evaluation of the CD and electronic absorption spectra of chiral optically active biliverdins (1–6) in benzene, chloroform, and ethanol solutions containing trifluoroacetic acid or hydrochloric acid. The aggregates formed at medium acid concentrations exhibit largeCotton effects in the long-wavelength absorption bands and thus dominate the CD spectra. Similarly, agrregates are the main contributors to theCotton effects of achiral, protonated biliverdins in (S)-(–)-ethyl lactate (SICD) at usual concentrations. The consequence and relevance of these findings with regard to the recent literature is briefly discussed.Dedicated to Prof. Dr.Karl Schlögl on occasion of his 60^th birthday.     

Study on the reaction of triple helix poly(A:2I) with Cu~(2+)

The effect of Cu2+ on the triple-stranded helical structure of poly(A:2I) was studied by means of circular dichroism spectral method with the help of ultraviolet spectral and ethidium bromide fluorescence probe methods. It was found that Cu2+ destabilizes the structure of the triple helix poly(A:2I) and induces its structural transformations, meanwhile, the transformations can be partially reversed by a higher NaCl concentration. The structural transformations may be expressed by the following scheme: poly(A:2I) - poly(A:I) + poly(I)- poly(A) + 2poly(I)     

配体形状对多吡啶铜(Ⅱ)配合物与DNA作用的影响

合成了一系列含有平面配体的Cu(Ⅱ)多吡啶配合物[Cu(IP)₂]²⁺、[Cu(PIP)₂]²⁺、[Cu(DPPZ)₂]²⁺和[Cu(HPIP)₂]²⁺，用吸收光谱、CD光谱和粘度等方法研究了这些配合物与小牛胸腺DNA的作用。结果表明配体上的取代基及配体的平面性对这些四面体配合物与DNA的结合强弱产生一定的影响。[Cu(DPPZ)₂]²⁺与DNA的结合较强，而[Cu(HPIP)₂]²⁺与DNA的结合较弱。CD光谱显示配合物[Cu(DPPZ)₂]²⁺、[Cu(PIP)₂]²⁺和[Cu(HPIP)₂]²⁺的加入会导致DNA的CD光谱减弱。而[Cu(IP)₂]²⁺的加入则会使DNA的CD光谱增强。同时，[Cu(IP)₂]²⁺与DNA结合后，还会引起一定程度的DNA构型转换，即DNA从B型转换成Z型。
