Improved quantification limits in chiral capillary electrochromatography by peak compression effects
The peak compression effect has been applied to improve quantification limits in chiral capillary electrochromatography (CEC). A stationary phase based on the chiral selector vancomycin (Chirobiotic V) was used for separations of the enantiomers of mianserin. By adding solvents with a low dielectric constant, e.g. 2-propanol or tetrahydrofuran, to the sample solution, peak compression could be induced. The plate numbers for the minor enantiomer increased from approximately 100,000 to 1.4-1.6 million plates/m, when the composition of the mobile phase was adjusted so that the analyte eluted within either one of two system zones originating from the sample solution. A 10-fold improvement in the quantification limit for the minor enantiomer was obtained compared to elution under non-focused conditions. 相似文献

The thermoreversible gelation of semi-diluted atactic polyacrylnitrile (PAN)/dimethylformamide (DMF)-solutions has been studied. The structural features of PAN/DMF-gels, formed by supercooling have been investigated by DSC-, x-ray- and swelling measurements. A new structural model has been introduced to describe the morphology of the junction zones of PAN/DMF-gels and to also explain the gelation behavior of PAN/DMF-solutions as the structural features of PAN/DMF-gels. The junction zones of a PAN/DMF-gel have been defined as ordered junction zones.A gelation enthalpy of about H=–6 kJ/mol supports the idea that an ordered junction zone is formed by intermolecularly neighboring stereoregular parts of atactic PAN chains due to a nucleation process in the solution. The results of numerical integration of the Euler equations governing two-dimensional and axisymmetric flows of an ideal (inviscid and non-heat-conducting) gas with local supersonic zones are presented. The subject of the study is the formation of shocks closing local supersonic zones. The flow in the vicinity of the initial point of the closing shock is calculated on embedded, successively refined grids with an accuracy much greater than that previously achieved. The calculations performed, together with the analysis of certain controversial issues, leave no doubt that it is the intersection of C ?-characteristics proceeding from the sonic line inside the supersonic zone that is responsible for the closing shock formation. 相似文献

A deterministic mechanism for the production of plankton patches within a typical medium scale oceanic structure is proposed and investigated. By direct numerical simulation of a simple model of Langmuir circulation we quantify the effects of unsteady flows on planktonic communities and demonstrate their importance. Two qualitatively different zones within the flow are identified: chaotic regions that help to spread plankton and locally coherent regions, that do not mix with the chaotic regions and which persist for long periods of time. The relative importance of these regions to both phytoplankton and zooplankton is investigated, taking into account variations in plankton buoyancy. In particular, species-specific retention zone structure is discussed in relation to variations in environmental forcing. 相似文献

The paper presents quasi-static FE-simulations of the crack formation in a reinforced concrete bar without stirrups subject to tension. The material was modeled with a continuum smeared crack model using an elasto-plastic constitutive law. A linear Rankine criterion with isotropic softening and associated flow rule was adopted in a tensile regime. To ensure the mesh-independency, the softening parameter was enhanced by a characteristic length of micro-structure by means of a non-local theory.
