This short note summarizes the circumstances of the birth of free probability theory andsome of the recent achievements.     

Trace Functionals for a Class of Pseudo-Differential Operators in R n

In this paper we define trace functionals on the algebra of pseudo-differential operators with cone-shaped exits to infinity. Furthermore, we improve the Weyl formula on the asymptotic distribution of eigenvalues and make use of it in order to establish inclusion relations between the interpolation normed ideals of compact operators in L ²(R ⁿ ) and the above operator classes.     

Integrability of subdifferentials of directionally Lipschitz functions

Using a quantitative version of the subdifferential characterization of directionally Lipschitz functions, we study the integrability of subdifferentials of such functions over arbitrary Banach space.

     

The Geometric Construction of WZW Effective Action in Noncommutative Manifold

By constructing close-one-cochain density Ω^12n in the gauge group space we get the Wess-Zumino-Witten (WZW) effective Lagrangian on high-dimensional noncommutative space.Especially consistent anomalies derived from this WZW effective action in noncommutative four-dimensional space coincide with those obtained by L.Bonora etc.(het-th/0002210).     

Sigma Models and Minimal Surfaces

Correspondence is established between sigma models, minimal surfaces and the Monge–Ampére equation. The Lax pairs of the minimality condition of the minimal surfaces and the Monge–Ampére equations are given. Existence of infinitely many nonlocal conservation laws is shown and some Bäcklund transformations are also given.     

Difference discrete connection and curvature on cubic lattice Dedicated to Professor Sheng GONG on the occasion of his 75th birthday

In a way similar to the continuous case formally, we define in different but equivalent manners the difference discrete connection and curvature on discrete vector bundle over the regular lattice as base space. We deal with the difference operators as the discrete counterparts of the derivatives based upon the differential calculus on the lattice. One of the definitions can be extended to the case over the random lattice. We also discuss the relation between our approach and the lattice gauge theory and apply to the discrete integrable systems.     

T-duality in Affine NA Toda Models

The construction of non-Abelian affine Toda models is discussed in terms of its underlying Lie algebraic structure. It is shown that a subclass of such non-conformal two-dimensional integrable models naturally leads to the construction of a pair of actions, which share the same spectra and are related by canonical transformations.     

Branes,Quantum Nambu Brackets and the Hydrogen Atom

The Nambu-bracket quantization of the hydrogen atom is worked out as an illustration of the general method. The dynamics of topological open branes is controlled classically by Nambu brackets. Such branes then may be quantized through the consistent quantization of the underlying Nambu brackets: properly defined, the quantum Nambu-brackets comprise an associative structure, although the naive derivation property is mooted through operator entwinement. For superintegrable systems, such as the hydrogen atom, the results coincide with those furnished by Hamiltonian quantization - but the method is not limited to Hamiltonian systems.
