Inequalities for the Moments and Distribution of the Ladder Height of a Random Walk

We obtain upper bounds for the tail distribution of the first nonnegative sum of a random walk and for the moments of the overshoot over an arbitrary nonnegative level if the expectation of jumps is positive and close to zero. In addition, we find an estimate for the expectation of the first ladder epoch.

Noncommutative localisation in algebraic K-theory II

In [Amnon Neeman, Andrew Ranicki, Noncommutative localisation in algebraic K-theory I, Geom. Topol. 8 (2004) 1385-1425] we proved a localisation theorem in the algebraic K-theory of noncommutative rings. The main purpose of the current article is to express the general theorem of the previous paper in a more user-friendly fashion, in a way more suitable for applications. In the process we compare our result to the existing theorems in the literature, showing how the previous paper improves all the existing results.It should be pointed out that there have been two very interesting recent preprints on related topics. The reader is referred to the beautiful papers of Krause [Henning Krause, Cohomological quotients and smashing localizations, http://wwwmath.upb.de/~hkrause/publications.html. [8]] and Dwyer [William G. Dwyer, Noncommutative localization in homotopy theory, preprint, http://www.nd.edu/~wgd/. [4]]. Krause studies the lifting of chain complexes and the relation with the telescope conjecture, and Dwyer generalises to the homotopy theoretic framework.

SASEGASA: A New Generic Parallel Evolutionary Algorithm for Achieving Highest Quality Results

This paper presents a new generic Evolutionary Algorithm (EA) for retarding the unwanted effects of premature convergence. This is accomplished by a combination of interacting generic methods. These generalizations of a Genetic Algorithm (GA) are inspired by population genetics and take advantage of the interactions between genetic drift and migration. In this regard a new selection scheme is introduced, which is designed to directedly control genetic drift within the population by advantageous self-adaptive selection pressure steering. Additionally this new selection model enables a quite intuitive heuristics to detect premature convergence. Based upon this newly postulated basic principle the new selection mechanism is combined with the already proposed Segregative Genetic Algorithm (SEGA), an advanced Genetic Algorithm (GA) that introduces parallelism mainly to improve global solution quality. As a whole, a new generic evolutionary algorithm (SASEGASA) is introduced. The performance of the algorithm is evaluated on a set of characteristic benchmark problems. Computational results show that the new method is capable of producing highest quality solutions without any problem-specific additions.     

Numerical Soliton and Oscillating Wave Solutions for Flierl-Petviashvili Equation in Plasmas

Numerical axisymmetric soliton and oscillating wave solutions for the Flierl-Petviashvili equation in plasmas are presented. Solution branch paradigm and examples are given. Some implications of results to ion drift wave as well as force-free field of magnetic equilibrium are briefly discussed.

本文以构造的方式建立起拟阵与概念格的联系,得到在同构意义下每个拟阵是一个概念格,但反之不然的结论;该结论使得利用概念格的性质研究拟阵成为现实,特别为将建造概念格的算法尤其是已计算机化的算法应用于求取拟阵奠定了基础,也为拟阵论成为研究概念格性质的辅助工具打下基础．     

因素空间与概念内涵的表示

本文综合应用因素空间、信息系统和重于关系的方法,讨论了概念的内涵表示及其他有关问题。特别是,对在描述概念问题中不同于内涵和外延的第三种方法,即典型示范表示做了进一步的分析。     

使用《新概念物理教程:力学》的教学探索

简要介绍《新概念物理教程：力学》的知识体系、特色及改革新意．结合南阳师院2000级、2001级两届本科班对新教材的使用情况，制定适合我院学生实际的力学教学大纲，探索一种以知识为载体、以学生为主体、以培养学生科学素质为宗旨的新型教学模式．对教学中遇到的问题提出具体的解决办法，对使用新教材的效果进行调查分析，为力学教材的使用和力学教学改革提供一些参考。     

Breathers in ferrimagnetic systems

Breathers in discrete nonlinear ferrimagnetic spin lattices are investigated for both easy-axis and easy-plane configurations. The region in frequency space of the formation of breathers is determined and the anticontinuum limit discussed. The monochromatic and the coloured breathers are found out numerically for different parameters and different conditions of excitations.
