The flow between corotating compressor or turbine discs and the flow between a turbine disc and an adjacent stationary casing can be respectively modelled by a rotating cavity and by a rotor-stator system. This paper reviews some of the recent experimental and theoretical work on flow and heat transfer in these two classes of rotating-disc systems. Comparisons between the theoretical and measured distributions of velocity, pressure, and Nusselt numbers are made for the rotating cavity with a superimposed radial flow of cooling air. For the rotor-stator system, some recent work on the fluid dynamics is outlined, and particular mention is made of the so-called “ingress problem” and of the use of pre-swirl air to improve the blade-cooling effectiveness. 相似文献

Some novel interlacing properties of the zeros for the Besseland spherical Bessel functions are first presented and thenapplied to prove an interesting uniqueness result in inverseacoustic obstacle scattering. Two mechanisms of extracting energy and angular momentum from a rotating black hole, the Blandford-Znajek (BZ) process and magnetic coupling (MC) of a rotating black hole (BH) with the surrounding accretion disk, are discussed in detail by using a modified equivalent circuit. We obtain the same value for the BZ power as given by Lee. The strength of the power and torque produced by the rotating BH in the BZ process are compared with those in MC process. In addition, entropy production on the BH horizon due to the BZ process and that due to MC process are compared and discussed also by using the modified equivalent circuit. 相似文献

We analyze the accretion of charged matter onto a rotating black hole immersed in an aligned dipolar magnetic field. We specialize
to motion in the equatorial plane and calculate the ‘Keplerian’ angular momentum distribution, the marginally stable and marginally
bound orbits, and the efficiency of mass-to-energy conversion as functions of the angular momentum of the black hole and of
the product of the dipole moment and the charge of the infalling matter. Although the detailed results are quite different
from those previously obtained in the case of an uniform magnetic field, the astrophysically relevant results are very similar;
when hydrodynamical accretion is considered, these effects of the magnetic field are always very small. But for test particles

The algebraic world of associative algebras has many deep connections with the geometric world of two-dimensional surfaces. Recently, D. Tamarkin discovered that the operad of chains of the little discs operad is formal, i.e. it is homotopy equivalent to its cohomology. From this fact and from Deligne's conjecture on Hochschild complexes follows almost immediately my formality result in deformation quantization. I review the situation as it looks now. Also I conjecture that the motivic Galois group acts on deformation quantizations, and speculate on possible relations of higher-dimensional algebras and of motives to quantum field theories. 相似文献
