Efficient and widely applicable oxidation method of tribromomethyl carbinols with PCC

An efficient and widely applicable oxidation method of tribromomethyl carbinols in the presence of pyridinium chlorochromate has been developed with excellent yields up to 96%. This method was well applied for the oxidation of a variety of aromatic, aliphatic, and heterocyclic tribromomethyl carbinols.     

Drastic change of rheological behaviour of Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC) formulations induced by water sorption onto mineral filler surface

The water sorption properties of Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC) formulations have been studied in relation to the rheological behaviour. Uncoated mineral fillers (median diameter 0.85 μm) have been dispersed in an organic liquid used as plasticizer, a dioctylphthalate (DOP), at a concentration of 25% by weight (volume fraction of about 11%). Water sorption isotherms onto PCC in air and in the organic matrix have been constructed. Measurement of water concentration in the DOP permits a complete evaluation of water exchanges at the inorganic (mineral)/organic (plasticizer) interface. Evolutions of yield stress, storage modulus and loss modulus have been determined as functions of the water activity in the system. A drastic change of rheological properties has been observed for water activities above 0.3.     

PCC-Promoted Dehydration of Aldoximes: A Convenient Access to Aromatic,Heteroaromatic, and Aliphatic Nitriles

A simple and convenient procedure for the synthesis of nitriles by dehydration of aldoximes using a PCC (pyridiniumchlorochromate) has been developed. A variety of aromatic, heteroaromatic, and aliphatic aldoximes are converted.

The synthesis of simplactone B has been achieved through a series of nine steps in 85% overall yield using Prins cyclisation as the key step with high stereochemical control.

RCM/PCC oxidation strategy for synthesis of functionalized cyclic α,β-unsaturated lactones: synthesis of (+)-triacetoxygoniotriol and its diastereomers

A novel methodology leading to the synthesis of (+)-triacetoxygoniotriol 2 from d-glucose is described. Construction of the core six-membered α,β-unsaturated lactone moiety involved ring closing metathesis (RCM) followed by a PCC oxidation. Later exploiting the pseudo-symmetry of d-glucose three other diastereomers of triacetoxygoniotriol were synthesized using the developed methodology.     

Synthesis of 3,5,6-trisubstituted α-pyrones from Baylis-Hillman adducts

3,5,6-Trisubstituted α-pyrones were synthesized starting from the Baylis-Hillman adducts. The synthesis was carried out via the sequential introduction of ketone at the primary position of Baylis-Hillman adduct, lactonization, and the following oxidation with PCC.
