The effects of doubly excited states on ionization balance

The effects of highly doubly excited states on ionization balance are investigated. In the calculation, A Collisional-Radiative model in Detailed-Configuration-Accounting (DCA) is applied to population calculations for NLTE plasmas. Configuration-averaged rate coefficients that needed in the rate equations are obtained based on the first order perturbation theory. The Hatree-Fock-Slater self-consistent-field method is used to calculate the electron wave functions. The mean ionization stage of high-Z plasma Lu is presented. The comparison shows that the mean ionization stage increases more than 3 stages when doubly excited states 5l6l' and 5l5l' are not included in the population calculations.     

Some remarks on the Jensen-Hadamard inequalities and applications

We provide some inequalities and integral inequalities connected to the Jensen-Hadamard inequalities for convex functions. In particular, we give some refinements to these inequalities. Some natural applications and further extensions are given.

Generalization of a sharp Hölder's inequality and its application

In this paper, we generalize Hu Ke's sharpness of Hölder's inequality. As application, the obtained result is used to improve the well-known Opial-Olech inequality.     

Generalized 3G theorem and application to relativistic stable process on non-smooth open sets

Let G(x,y) and GD(x,y) be the Green functions of rotationally invariant symmetric α-stable process in Rd and in an open set D, respectively, where 0<α<2. The inequality GD(x,y)GD(y,z)/GD(x,z)?c(G(x,y)+G(y,z)) is a very useful tool in studying (local) Schrödinger operators. When the above inequality is true with c=c(D)∈(0,∞), then we say that the 3G theorem holds in D. In this paper, we establish a generalized version of 3G theorem when D is a bounded κ-fat open set, which includes a bounded John domain. The 3G we consider is of the form GD(x,y)GD(z,w)/GD(x,w), where y may be different from z. When y=z, we recover the usual 3G. The 3G form GD(x,y)GD(z,w)/GD(x,w) appears in non-local Schrödinger operator theory. Using our generalized 3G theorem, we give a concrete class of functions belonging to the non-local Kato class, introduced by Chen and Song, on κ-fat open sets. As an application, we discuss relativistic α-stable processes (relativistic Hamiltonian when α=1) in κ-fat open sets. We identify the Martin boundary and the minimal Martin boundary with the Euclidean boundary for relativistic α-stable processes in κ-fat open sets. Furthermore, we show that relative Fatou type theorem is true for relativistic stable processes in κ-fat open sets. The main results of this paper hold for a large class of symmetric Markov processes, as are illustrated in the last section of this paper. We also discuss the generalized 3G theorem for a large class of symmetric stable Lévy processes.     

Characterisations of function spaces of generalised smoothness

We investigate function spaces of generalised smoothness of Besov and Triebel–Lizorkin type. Equivalent quasi-norms in terms of maximal functions and local means are given. An atomic decomposition theorem for this type of spaces is proved. Mathematics Subject Classification (2000) 46E35     

UNIFORM CONVERGENCE OF CESARO MEANS OF NEGATIVE ORDER OF DOUBLE TRIGONOMETRIC FOURIER SERIES

In this paper we prove that iff ∈ C([-π,π]2) and the function f is bounded partial p-variation for some p ∈ [1, ∞), then the double trigonometric Fourier series of a function f is uniformly (C;-α,-β) summable (α β＜ 1/p,α,β＞ 0) in the sense of Pringsheim. If α β≥ 1/p, then there exists a continuous function f0 of bounded partial double trigonometric Fourier series of fo diverge over cubes.     

Reciprocally convex functions

We say that f is reciprocally convex if x?f(x) is concave and x?f(1/x) is convex on (0,+∞). Reciprocally convex functions generate a sequence of quasi-arithmetic means, with the first one between harmonic and arithmetic mean and others above the arithmetic mean. We present several examples related to the gamma function and we show that if f is a Stieltjes transform, then −f is reciprocally convex. An application in probability is also presented.     

Elastic behavior of non-Gaussian polymethylene chains

In this paper, elastic behaviors of non-Gaussian polymethylene (PM) chains with chain length N=100 are investigated by rotational isomeric state model. Here the tetrahedral lattice of PM chain and the non-local interaction of Sutherland potential are adopted. In the metropolis movement of PM chain, a four-bond movement model is used. The average energy and average Helmholtz free energy with various elongation ratios λ are calculated by Monte Carlo simulation method. The average energy increases with elongation ratio λ and the average Helmholtz free energy decreases with elongation ratio λ. The elastic force f and the energy contribution to elastic force f_u can be obtained from f=∂〈A〉/∂r and f=∂〈U〉/∂r. We find that the elastic force f increases with elongation ratio λ and the energy contribution f_u decreases with elongation ratio λ, and f_u is less than zero. The ratio f_u/f is close to −0.21 for λ?1.25, and −0.04 to −0.35 for λ>1.25 at T=364 K. In our calculation, the rubber elasticity may be discussed in terms of the chemical structure of polymer chains.
