This article reconsiders the double-slit experiment from the nonrealist or, in terms of this article, “reality-without-realism” (RWR) perspective, grounded in the combination of three forms of quantum discontinuity: (1) “Heisenberg discontinuity”, defined by the impossibility of a representation or even conception of how quantum phenomena come about, even though quantum theory (such as quantum mechanics or quantum field theory) predicts the data in question strictly in accord with what is observed in quantum experiments); (2) “Bohr discontinuity”, defined, under the assumption of Heisenberg discontinuity, by the view that quantum phenomena and the data observed therein are described by classical and not quantum theory, even though classical physics cannot predict them; and (3) “Dirac discontinuity” (not considered by Dirac himself, but suggested by his equation), according to which the concept of a quantum object, such as a photon or electron, is an idealization only applicable at the time of observation and not to something that exists independently in nature. Dirac discontinuity is of particular importance for the article’s foundational argument and its analysis of the double-slit experiment.  相似文献

X-ray emission from the collisions of 3 MeV Ar11+ ions with V, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, and Zn is investigated. Both the x-rays of the target atom and projectile are observed simultaneously. The x-ray yield is extracted from the original count. The inner-shell ionization cross section is estimated by the binary encounter approximation model and compared with the experimental result. The remarkable result is that the Ar K-shell x-ray yield is diminished with the target atomic number increasing, which is completely opposite to the theoretical calculation. That is interpreted by the competitive consumption of the energy loss for the ionization of inner-shell electrons between the projectile and target atom.  相似文献

We prove several improved versions of Bohr’s inequality for the harmonic mappings of the form f=h+g¯, where h is bounded by 1 and |g(z)||h(z)|. The improvements are obtained along the lines of an earlier work of Kayumov and Ponnusamy, i.e. (Kayumov and Ponnusamy, 2018) for example a term related to the area of the image of the disk D(0,r) under the mapping f is considered. Our results are sharp. In addition, further improvements of the main results for certain special classes of harmonic mappings are provided.  相似文献

An analytical approach for the electronic stopping force for non-relativistic energies that has no adjustable parameters has been developed. The approach combines the Bohr model for the close collisions and the Firsov model for the distant collisions. In order to combine the two models, a probabilistic model was introduced. We have applied our model to 16O in 12C, 16O in 27Al, 84 Kr in 27Al, 5Li in 12C, 12C in 12C, and 132Xe in 12C systems and compared with SRIM/MSTAR software, the original Bohr model, the Firsov model and available experimental data. We have found that the calculated electronic stopping force values are in agreement with the general qualitative behaviour of the electronic stopping force as a function of particle velocity reported in the literature. The proposed analytical formula is expected to be valid for other projectile-target combinations but more experimental data are needed to verify this assumption.  相似文献

Jin proved that whenever A and B are sets of positive upper density in Z, A+B is piecewise syndetic. Jin's theorem was subsequently generalized by Jin and Keisler to a certain family of abelian groups, which in particular contains Zd. Answering a question of Jin and Keisler, we show that this result can be extended to countable amenable groups. Moreover we establish that such sumsets (or — depending on the notation — “product sets”) are piecewise Bohr, a result which for G=Z was proved by Bergelson, Furstenberg and Weiss. In the case of an abelian group G, we show that a set is piecewise Bohr if and only if it contains a sumset of two sets of positive upper Banach density.  相似文献

Fowler recalls his early education in physics; his part in the history of nuclear physics at the California Institute of Technology in the 1930s; parallel efforts elsewhere, particularly at Berkeley and the Department of Terrestrial Magnetism in Washington,D.C.; his contacts with J. Robert Oppenheimer; and his work with Charles C. Lauritsen and Tommy Lauritsen before and after World War II.John Greenberg received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Wisconsin and was Caltech research fellow in history from 1980–1984. Evidence is recalled of the strong opposition of Niels Bohr, at the time of the Old Quantum Theory 1913–1925, to the Lichtquanten hypothesis of Einstein. Some episodes with H. A. Kramers, J. C. Slater, and W. Heisenberg are recollected; Bohr's changing point of view is traced back to some philosophical antecedents and to his endeavor to deduce quantum results from the Correspondence Principle. Some consequences for the future interpretation of Quantum Mechanics, specially to the Complementarity Principle, are considered.  相似文献

We consider the class of all sense‐preserving harmonic mappings of the unit disk , where h and g are analytic with , and determine the Bohr radius if any one of the following conditions holds:
  • 1. h is bounded in .
  • 2. h satisfies the condition in with .
  • 3. both h and g are bounded in .
  • 4. h is bounded and .
We also consider the problem of determining the Bohr radius when the supremum of the modulus of the dilatation of f in is strictly less than 1. In addition, we determine the Bohr radius for the space of analytic Bloch functions and the space of harmonic Bloch functions. The paper concludes with two conjectures.  相似文献
