The dynamics of defects in a pattern of traveling inclined rolls has been investigated. Two regimes were identified in the neighborhood of defects: a diffusive regime, with a negative phase diffusion coefficient, and a coalescence regime in which the phase gradient diverges in time following a power law behavior. The observed periodic nucleation of defects is related to the frequency inhomogeneity induced by the disymmetry of the wave amplitude. We have fabricated a light-emitting diode from horse-heart cytochrome c and measured the electro-luminescence (EL) spectra. The spectra exhibit broad peaks around 530 and 690 nm, and a weak shoulder around 410 nm. The EL spectra are completely different from the photo-luminescence spectra previously reported. The appearance of the 690 nm emission band suggests the charge-transfer between the iron and the axial methionine ligand plays a crucial role in the electrical conduction in the cytochrome c film.  相似文献

With the aid of numerical simulations of the β Fermi-Pasta-Ulam (FPU) system, we compare the different definitions of dynamical temperature for Hamiltonian systems. We have shown that each definition gives different values of temperature for a system with a small number of degrees of freedom (DOF). Only for systems with a sufficiently large number of DOF, do all the definitions of dynamical temperature approach the same value.  相似文献

The interplay of pairing with the different terms of the residual interaction is explored for the low-lying energy levels of semi-magic nuclei from the point of view of spectral statistics. The reduced degree of chaoticity present in this nuclei is shown to be directly related to the strength of the pairing interaction with respect to the total residual interaction. On the contrary, the pairing strength does not influence the spectral statistics near the ground state for nuclei with both neutrons and protons outside closed shells.  相似文献

Sequences of energy levels in nuclei are often plagued with missing levels whose number and position are unknown. It is also quite usual that all the quantum numbers of certain levels cannot be experimentally determined, and thus levels of different symmetries are mixed in the same sequence. The analysis of these imperfect spectra (from the point of view of spectral statistics) is unavoidable if one wants to extract some statistical information. The power spectrum of the δqδq statistic has emerged in recent years as an important tool for the study of quantum chaos and spectral statistics. We derive analytical expressions for the observed power spectrum in terms of the fraction of observed levels and the number of mixed sequences. These expressions are tested with large shell model spectra simulating realistic experimental situations. A good estimation of the number of mixed symmetries and the fraction of missing levels is obtained by means of a least-squares fit in a wide set of different situations.  相似文献

The dynamic behaviour of three hydrophilic probes (two dyes and one fluorescently-labelled protein) inserted in the water layers of lyotropic lamellar phases has been studied by confocal fluorescence recovery experiments. Two different, ionic (AOT/NaCl/ H(2)O and non-ionic ( C(12)E(5) /hexanol/ H(2)O host systems were studied. The confinement effect has been carefully monitored using the swelling properties of the lamellar phases. In all cases, we measure the evolution of the probe diffusion coefficient in the layer plane D ( perpendicular) versus the separation between the membranes d(w). Depending on the composition of the lamellar phase, this distance can be continuously adjusted from 500A to about 20A. For all systems, we observe a first regime, called dilute regime, where the diffusion coefficient decreases almost linearly with 1/d (w) . In this regime, the Faxén theory for the friction coefficient of a spherical particle symmetrically dragged between two rigid walls can largely explain our results. More unexpectedly, when the membranes are non-ionic, and also quite flexible ( C(12)E(5) /hexanol in water), we observe the existence of a second, concentrated (or confined) regime, where the diffusion coefficient is nearly constant and different from zero for membrane separations smaller than the particle size. This new regime can be heuristically explained by simple arguments taking into account the membrane fluidity.  相似文献

We study the problem of standing shocks in viscous disc-like accretion flows around black holes. For the first time we parametrize such a flow with two physical constants, namely the specific angular momentum accreted by the black hole j and the energy quantity K. By providing the global dependence of shock formation in the j- K parameter space, we show that a significant parameter region can ensure solutions with Rankine-Hugoniot shocks; and that the possibilities of shock formation are the largest for inviscid flows, decreasing with increasing viscosity, and ceasing to exist for a strong enough viscosity. Our results support the view that the standing shock is an essential ingredient in black hole accretion discs and is a general phenomenon in astrophysics, and that there should be a continuous change from the properties of inviscid flows to those of viscous ones.  相似文献

82 , Y@C82, and La@C82 in frozen solutions. We were able to determine the g tensors of these molecules by analysing magnetic field spectra at X-band (9.5 GHz) and W-band (94 GHz) frequencies. Moreover, in Y@C82 we have investigated the hyperfine interaction of the 89Y nuclear spin (I=1/2) with the electron spin on the C82 cage. The principal values of the hyperfine tensor A and the relative orientation of g and A tensors were determined by applying three- and four-pulse electron spin echo envelope modulation techniques (ESEEM).
