Complex multiplication of exactly solvable Calabi–Yau varieties

We propose a conceptual framework that leads to an abstract characterization for the exact solvability of Calabi–Yau varieties in terms of abelian varieties with complex multiplication. The abelian manifolds are derived from the cohomology of the Calabi–Yau manifold, and the conformal field theoretic quantities of the underlying string emerge from the number theoretic structure induced on the varieties by the complex multiplication symmetry. The geometric structure that provides a conceptual interpretation of the relation between geometry and conformal field theory is discrete, and turns out to be given by the torsion points on the abelian varieties.     

Weakly Pseudocompact Frames

We define the notion of weak pseudocompactness for frames and present several characterizations. Among them are characterizations in terms of strong inclusions, uniformities and cozero bases. Noteworthy is the fact that these internal characterizations are not translated from characterizations of weakly pseudocompact spaces.      

Symmetric subvarieties in compactifications and the Radon transform on Riemannian symmetric spaces of noncompact type

We investigate the totally geodesic Radon transform which assigns a function to its integration over totally geodesic symmetric submanifolds in Riemannian symmetric spaces of noncompact type. Our main concern is focused on the injectivity and support theorem. Our approach is based on the projection slice theorem relating the totally geodesic Radon transform and the Fourier transforms on symmetric spaces. Our approach also uses the study of geometry concerned with the totally geodesic symmetric subvarieties in Riemannian symmetric spaces in terms of the cell structure of the Satake compactifications.     

On the symmetric hyperspace of the circle

By X(n), n?1, we denote the n-th symmetric hyperspace of a metric space X as the space of non-empty finite subsets of X with at most n elements endowed with the Hausdorff metric. In this paper we shall describe the n-th symmetric hyperspace S¹(n) as a compactification of an open cone over ΣDn−2, here Dn−2 is the higher-dimensional dunce hat introduced by Andersen, Marjanovi? and Schori (1993) [2] if n is even, and Dn−2 has the homotopy type of Sn−2 if n is odd (see Andersen et al. (1993) [2]). Then we can determine the homotopy type of S¹(n) and detect several topological properties of S¹(n).     

New Form of the T-Duality Due to the Stability of a Compact Dimension

We study behaviors of a compact dimension and the T-duality, in the presence of the wrapped closed bosonic strings. When the closed strings interact and form another system of strings, the radius of compactification increases. This modifies the T-duality, which we call it as T-duality-like. Some effects of the T-duality-like will be studied.     

Hemiring-homomorphisms,Stone Čech Compactification and Hewitt Realcompactification

M-theory on AdS4 × M: the complete Osp(2|4) × SU(3) × SU(2) spectrum from harmonic analysis

We reconsider the Kaluza-Klein compactifications of D = 11 supergravity on AdS₄ × (G/H)₇ manifolds that were classified in the eighties, in the modern perspective of AdS₄/CFT₃ correspondence. We focus on one of the three N = 2 cases: (G/H)₇ = M¹¹¹ = SU(3) × SU(2) × U(1) /SU(2) × U(1)′ × U(1)′'. Relying on the systematic use of the harmonic analysis techniques developed in the eighties by one of us (P. Fré) with R. D'Auria, we derive the complete spectrum of long, short and massless Osp(2|4) × SU(3) × SU(2) unitary irreducible representations obtained in this compactification. Our result also provides a general scheme for the other N = 2 compactifications. Furthermore, it is a necessary comparison term in the AdS₄/CFT₃ correspondence: the complete AdS/CFT match of the spectra that we obtain will provide a much more stringent proof of the ACS/CFT correspondence than in the S⁷ case, since the structure of the superconformal field theory on the M2-brane world volume must be such as to reproduce, at the level of composite operators, the flavor group representations, the conformal dimensions and the hyperchanges that we obtain in the present article. The investigation of this match is left to future publications. Here we provide an exhaustive construction of the Kaluza-Klein side of our spectroscopy.     

Compactifications and universal spaces in extension theory

We show that for each countable simplicial complex the following conditions are equivalent:

• iff for any space .
• There exists a -invertible map of a metrizable compactum with onto the Hilbert cube.
