Observation of a narrow hyperon state of mass 3.17 GeV

We present evidence for a narrow Y¹ with a mass of 3.17 GeV and a width ? 20 MeV decaying to ΣKK? + pions, ΛKK? + pions and ΞK + pions. The data come from two high statistics K^?p bubble chamber experiments with a sensitivity of ≈100 eV/μbat 8.25 GeV/c and ≈ 45 eV/μbat 6.5 GeV/c.     

Evidence for the Bφ decay mode of the ω(1670)

Backward production of ω(1670) is observed in the reactions K^?p→φ⁺φ^?ω⁰Λ⁰ and K^?p→φ⁺φ^?φ⁰φ⁰ for |U'_Λ|<1.0 GeV². The cross section for the ω(1670) →φ⁺φ^?ω⁰ decay mode is 1.90±0.35 μb for 8.25 GeV/c incident K^?. Evidence is presented for the importance of the sequential decay, ω(1670) → Bφ → ωφφ with a branching ratio ω(1670) → Bφ/all ω(1670) → ωφφ=1.0±_0.25^0.00.     

A neutron scattering study of the vibrational modes of hydrogen in the β-phases of Pd-H,Pd-10Ag-H and Pd-20Ag-H

The localised modes associated with interstitial hydrogen in the β-phases of Pd and Pd-Ag alloys have been studied by neutron energy loss at 295K, 80K and for Pd at 30K. Their energies vary little but their widths increase significantly with temperature and silver content, an effect which is ascribed to local disorder and anharmonic contributions.
