On a conjecture of Cox and Katz

On deformations of Hamiltonian actions

In this paper we generalize to coisotropic actions of compact Lie groups a theorem of Guillemin on deformations of Hamiltonian structures on compact symplectic manifolds. We show how one can reconstruct from the moment polytope the symplectic form on the manifold. Received: 21 March 2006     

Quantization of complex Lagrangian submanifolds

Let Λ be a smooth Lagrangian submanifold of a complex symplectic manifold X. We construct twisted simple holonomic modules along Λ in the stack of deformation-quantization modules on X.

In this paper, we establish a theorem on the distribution of primes in quadratic progressions on average.     

Removable singularities of CR functions on singular boundaries

The problem of analytic representation of integrable CR functions on hypersurfaces with singularities is treated. The nature of singularities does not matter while the set of singularities has surface measure zero. For simple singularities like cuspidal points, edges, corners, etc., also the behaviour of representing analytic functions near singular points is studied. Estimating the largest singular values of large sparse matrices via modified moments

We describe a procedure for determining a few of the largest singular values of a large sparse matrix. The method by Golub and Kent which uses the method of modified moments for estimating the eigenvalues of operators used in iterative methods for the solution of linear systems of equations is appropriately modified in order to generate a sequence of bidiagonal matrices whose singular values approximate those of the original sparse matrix. A simple Lanczos recursion is proposed for determining the corresponding left and right singular vectors. The potential asynchronous computation of the bidiagonal matrices using modified moments with the iterations of an adapted Chebyshev semi-iterative (CSI) method is an attractive feature for parallel computers. Comparisons in efficiency and accuracy with an appropriate Lanczos algorithm (with selective re-orthogonalization) are presented on large sparse (rectangular) matrices arising from applications such as information retrieval and seismic reflection tomography.
