This paper solves the problem of the duration of the total eclipseof a satellite of a body, provided that (a) the body is sphericalin shape and the mass distribution inside the body is sphericallysymmetrical; (b) the satellite is a very small object; (c) thesatellite's orbit around a body is circular and the satellitecan pass through the centre of its shadow; (d) a source of lightis the source of the conical body's shadow (umbra) and it doesnot change its apparent position in the sky; (e) there are noperturbations on the satellite's orbit. The solution presentedrepresents the general discussion of the problem based on utilizationof some parts of the theory of contraction mappings.  相似文献

We consider a discrete ribbon model for double-stranded polymers where the ribbon is constrained to lie in a three-dimensional lattice. The ribbon can be open or closed, and closed ribbons can be orientable or nonorientable. We prove some results about the asymptotic behavior of the numbers of ribbons withn plaquettes, and a theorem about the frequency of occurrence of certain patterns in these ribbons. We use this to derive results about the frequency of knots in closed ribbons, the linking of the boundary curves of orientable closed ribbons, and the twist and writhe of ribbons. We show that the centerline and boundary of a closed ribbon are both almost surely knotted in the infinite-n limit. For an orientable ribbon, the expectation of the absolute value of the linking number of the two boundary curves increases at least as fast as n, and similar results hold for the twist and writhe.  相似文献

Abstract

In the framework of remote sensing studies concerning coastal transport of pollution in the Northern Adriatic Sea, a method has been developed for the quantitative determination of sulphur, iron, titanium, calcium, phosphorus, silicon, aluminium, magnesium in suspended matter of sea water.

The suspended material was collected by filtering on millipore membrane filters with pore width of 0.45 μ and directly analysed by X-ray spectroscopy. For calibration dried solution and particulate standard samples were used. Limits of sensitivity and precision of the method are reported.

Correlations between the concentration of these elements and the total suspended matter/chlorophyll are discussed.

The aim is to study the geochemical composition of particulate matter and its variations within the geographical site of the sea basin and the seasonal conditions. The approach is to consider aluminium and the other elements normalized on Al. On the basis of a matrix correlation analyses of some sets of data chosen in the restricted area for investigation, some hypothesis on superficial distribution of clay, carbonate, iron hydrous oxides and other mineral detrites, are taken into account. The results confirm the complex situation existing in the offshore area of the Venice lagoon from a geochemical point of view.

The suspended matter seem to be argillaceous in the Southern part of the investigated area and semi-argillaceous with hydrous oxides and carbonates in the Northern part which is influenced by the Piave river.  相似文献

Dissolution dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP) enables high‐sensitivity solution‐phase NMR experiments on long‐lived nuclear spin species such as 15N and 13C. This report explores certain features arising in solution‐state 1H NMR upon polarizing low‐γ nuclear species. Following solid‐state hyperpolarization of both 13C and 1H, solution‐phase 1H NMR experiments on dissolved samples revealed transient effects, whereby peaks arising from protons bonded to the naturally occurring 13C nuclei appeared larger than the typically dominant 12C‐bonded 1H resonances. This enhancement of the satellite peaks was examined in detail with respect to a variety of mechanisms that could potentially explain this observation. Both two‐ and three‐spin phenomena active in the solid state could lead to this kind of effect; still, experimental observations revealed that the enhancement originates from 13C→1H polarization‐transfer processes active in the liquid state. Kinetic equations based on modified heteronuclear cross‐relaxation models were examined, and found to well describe the distinct patterns of growth and decay shown by the 13C‐bound 1H NMR satellite resonances. The dynamics of these novel cross‐relaxation phenomena were determined, and their potential usefulness as tools for investigating hyperpolarized ensembles and for obtaining enhanced‐sensitivity 1H NMR traces was explored.  相似文献

The lifetime of an artificial satellite moving in the circular orbit under the action ofnonuniform rotating atmospheric drag is studied from an energy point of view in this paper.The angular velocity of atmospheric rotation decreases with height according tohydrodynamics.The atmospheric density decreases with height according to theexponential formula.The expression for the lifetime of a satellite in the instantaneouscircular orbit in the above-mentioned rotating atmospheric model is derived,and thenumerical estimation for the lifetime of a concrete satellite has been made.The result showsclearly that the satellite lifetime calculated by this paper is shorter than that calculated bythe uniform rotating atmospheric model.  相似文献

To reveal some dynamic properties of the deploying process for the solar power satellite via an arbitrarily large phased array (SPS-ALPHA) solar receiver, the symplectic Runge-Kuttamethod is used to simulate the simplified model with the consideration of the Rayleigh damping effect. The system containing the Rayleigh damping can be separated and transformed into the equivalent nondamping system formally to insure the application condition of the symplectic Runge-Kutta method©First, the Lagrange equation with the Rayleigh damping governing the motion of the system is derived via the variational principle. Then, with some reasonable assumptions on the relations among the damping, mass, and stiffness matrices, the Rayleigh damping system is equivalently converted into the nondamping system formally, so that the symplectic Runge-Kutta method can be used to simulate the deploying process for the solar receiver. Finally, some numerical results of the symplectic Runge-Kutta method for the dynamic properties of the solar receiver are reported. The numerical results show that the proposed simplified model is valid for the deploying process for the SPS-ALPHA solar receiver, and the symplectic Runge-Kutta method can preserve the displacement constraints of the system well with excellent long-time numerical stability.  相似文献

The ionization spectrum of sulfur dioxide has been successfully studied by using the symmetry-adapted-cluster configuration-interaction (SAC-CI) general-R and SD-R methods and the basis set correlation-consistent polarized valence triple-zeta (cc-pVTZ). The SAC-CI general-R method reproduces the experimental spectrum well for both the main peaks and the satellite peaks of ionization spectrum of SO2. The sequence of ionic states corresponding to main peaks of SO2 has been re-determined according to the SAC-CI conclusions and it is reordered as X^2A1, A^2B2, B2A2, C^2B1,D^2A1, E^2B2 and F^2A1. Besides, the equilibrium structures and adiabatic ionization potentials (AIPs) of ionic states of main peaks of SO2 are calculated by using the SAC-CI SD-R method.  相似文献

The seasonal variability of cloud optical depth over northwestern China derived from Clouds and the Earth's Radiant Energy System (CERES) Single Scanner Footprint (SSF) Aqua Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) Edition IB data from July 2002 to June 2004 is presented. The regions of interest are those with Asia monsoon influence, the Tianshan and Qilian Mountains, and the Taklimakan Desert. The results show that the instantaneous measurements presented here are much higher than the previous results derived from International Satellite Cloud Climatology Project (ISCCP) D2 monthly mean data. Generally the measurements of cloud optical depth are the highest in summer and the lowest in winter, however, Taklimakan Desert has the lowest measurements in autumn. The regional variation is quite significant over northwestern China.  相似文献
