The differential equations and the boundary conditions for the nonequilibrium binary distribution function of an unsymmetrical binary electrolyte are derived from the Ebeling-Falkenhagen continuity equation. The connection between the Onsager reciprocal relation and the binary distribution functions is shown. Further, Feistel's result for thec logc contribution to the conductance is extended to unsymmetrical binary electrolytes. The reason for the difference between Feistel's and Chen'sc logc term is explained, and the significance of Onsager's reciprocal relation for the calculation ofc logc and higher-concentration contributions of the conductance is discussed. 相似文献

Nonequilibrium molecular dynamics is used to compute the coupled heat and mass transport in a binary isotope mixture of particles interacting with a Lennard-Jones/spline potential. Two different stationary states are studied, one with a fixed internal energy flux and zero mass flux, and the other with a fixed diffusive mass flux and zero temperature gradient. Computations are made for one overall temperature,T=2, and three overall number densities,n=0.1, 0.2, and 0.4. (All numerical values are given in reduced, Lennard-Jones units unless otherwise stated.) Temperature gradients are up to T=0.09 and weight-fraction gradients up to w
1=0.007. The flux-force relationships are found to be linear over the entire range. All four transport coefficients (theL-matrix) are determined and the Onsager reciprocal relationship for the off-diagonal coefficients is verified. Four different criteria are used to analyze the concept of local equilibrium in the nonequilibrium system. The local temperature fluctuation is found to be T0.03T and of the same order as the maximum temperature difference across the control volume, except near the cold boundary. A comparison of the local potential energy, enthalpy, and pressure with the corresponding equilibrium values at the same temperature, density, and composition also verifies that local equilibrium is established, except near the boundaries of the system. The velocity contribution to the BoltzmannH-function agrees with its Maxwellian (equilibrium) value within 1%, except near the boundaries, where the deviation is up to 4%. Our results do not support the Eyring-type transport theory involving jumps across energy barriers; we find that its estimates for the heat and mass fluxes are wrong by at least one order of magnitude. 相似文献

Aprediction puzzle leads to a form ofnecessary realism which forces the rejection of a central tenet of the Copenhagen interpretation. This leads to reconsidering conceptual difficulties related to Bell's locality premise. It is shown that aparadox of elementary probability theory puts new light on Bell's assumption that causality and statistical independence are mutually incompatible.

A graph theoretical procedure for obtaining eigenvalues of linear chains and cycles having alternant vertex weights (h1, h2, h1, h2, h1, h2, …) and the same edge weight (k) have been developed. The eigenvalues of some complicated graphs, such as graphs of linear polyacenes, methylene‐substituted linear polyacenes and cylindrical polyacene strips, stack graphs, and reciprocal graphs have been shown to be generated in closed analytical forms by this procedure. This paper discusses the geometry of kD crystal cells given by (k+ 1) points in a projective space ?n+ 1. We show how the concepts of barycentric and fractional (crystallographic) coordinates, reciprocal vectors and dual representation are related (and geometrically interpreted) in the projective geometric algebra Cl(?n+ 1) (see (Die Ausdehnungslehre von 1844 und die Geom. Anal. Teubner: Leipzig, 1894)) and in the conformal algebra Cl(?n+ 1, 1). The synchronization problem for both continuous and discrete‐time complex dynamical networks with time‐varying delays is investigated. Using optimal partitioning method, time‐varying delays are partitioned into l subintervals and generalized results are derived in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). New delay‐dependent synchronization criteria in terms of LMIs are derived by constructing appropriate Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional, reciprocally convex combination technique and some inequality techniques.
