The Hahn–Banach Theorem for Partially Ordered Totally Convex, Positively Convex and Superconvex Modules

The Hahn–Banach Theorem for partially ordered totally convex modules [3] and a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of an extension of a morphism from a submodule C ₀ of a partially ordered totally convex module C (with the ordered unit ball of the reals as codomain) to C, are proved. Moreover, the categories of partially ordered positively convex and superconvex modules are introduced and for both categories the Hahn–Banach Theorem is proved.     

Economic Equilibrium: Optimality and Price Decentralization

Mathematical economics has a long history and covers many interdisciplinary areas between mathematics and economics. At its center lies the theory of market equilibrium. The purpose of this expository article is to introduce mathematicians to price decentralization in general equilibrium theory. In particular, it concentrates on the role of positivity in the theory of convex economic analysis and the role of normal cones in the theory of non-convex economies.

本文综述了几类具有特殊断面的半群的近期研究结果。在介绍逆半群和正则半群的一般结构之后，概述了具有逆断面的正则半群的结构和同余格的研究成果。总结了作为逆断面的推广的可裂断面，纯正断面，正则^*－断面和恰当断面。提出了可以进一步研究的重要的问题。     

Banach空间中渐近正则半群的不动点定理

设X是p一致凸Banach空间,具有弱一致正规结构与非严格的Opial性质.又设C是X的非空凸弱紧子集.在适当的条件下,证明了C上每个渐近正则半群T={T(t):t∈S}都有不动点进一步,在类似的条件下,也讨论了一致凸Banach空间中渐近正则半群的不动点的存在性.     

On the Embedding of Ordered Semigroups into Ordered Group

It was shown in [7] that any right reversible, cancellative ordered semigroup can be embedded into an ordered group and as a consequence, it was shown that a commutative ordered semigroup can be embedded into an ordered group if and only if it is cancellative. In this paper we introduce the concept of L-maher and R-maher semigroups and use a technique similar to that used in [7] to show that any left reversible cancellative ordered L or R-maher semigroup can be embedded into an ordered group.

Diffusion in poro‐plastic media

A model is developed for the flow of a slightly compressible fluid through a saturated inelastic porous medium. The initial‐boundary‐value problem is a system that consists of the diffusion equation for the fluid coupled to the momentum equation for the porous solid together with a constitutive law which includes a possibly hysteretic relation of elasto‐visco‐plastic type. The variational form of this problem in Hilbert space is a non‐linear evolution equation for which the existence and uniqueness of a global strong solution is proved by means of monotonicity methods. Various degenerate situations are permitted, such as incompressible fluid, negligible porosity, or a quasi‐static momentum equation. The essential sufficient conditions for the well‐posedness of the system consist of an ellipticity condition on the term for diffusion of fluid and either a viscous or a hardening assumption in the constitutive relation for the porous solid. Existence of global strong solution to the micropolar fluid system in a bounded domain

In this paper we are concerned with the initial boundary value problem of the micropolar fluid system in a three dimensional bounded domain. We study the resolvent problem of the linearized equations and prove the generation of analytic semigroup and its time decay estimates. In particular, L^p–L^q type estimates are obtained. By use of the L^p–L^q estimates for the semigroup, we prove the existence theorem of global in time solution to the original nonlinear problem for small initial data. Furthermore, we study the magneto‐micropolar fluid system in the final section. Copyright © 2005 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
