Computing upward topological book embeddings of upward planar digraphs

We describe a unified approach for studying book, point-set, and simultaneous embeddability problems of upward planar digraphs. The approach is based on a linear time strategy to compute an upward planar drawing of an upward planar digraph such that all vertices are collinear. Besides having impact in relevant application domains of graph drawing and computational geometry, the presented results open new research directions in the area of upward planarity with constraints of the positions of the vertices.

Fractional Derivatives Applied to Phase-Space Reconstructions

The concept and application of phase-space reconstructions are reviewed. Fractional derivatives are then proposed for the purpose of reconstructing dynamics from a single observed time history. A procedure is presented in which the fractional derivatives of time series data are obtained in the frequency domain. The method is applied to the Lorenz system. The ability of the method to unfold the data is assessed by the method of global false nearest neighbors. The reconstructed data is used to compute recurrences and correlation dimensions. The reconstruction is compared to the commonly used method of delays in order to assess the choice of reconstruction parameters, and also the quality of results.     

Geometric Characterizations for Subgroups of PU（1, n; C）

In this paper, we discuss non-elementary subgroups and discontinuous subgroups of PU(1,n; C), and give their geometric characterizations.     

Extension of Isometries Between the Unit Spheres of Normed Space E and C（Ω）

In this paper, we study the extension of isometries between the unit spheres of normed space E and C（Ω）. We obtain that any surjective isometry between the unit spheres of normed space E and C（Ω） can be extended to be a linear isometry on the whole space E and give an affirmative answer to the corresponding Tingley＇s problem （where Ω be a compact metric space）.     

On disjoint configurations in infinite graphs

For a graph A and a positive integer n, let nA denote the union of n disjoint copies of A; similarly, the union of ?₀ disjoint copies of A is referred to as ?₀A. It is shown that there exist (connected) graphs A and G such that nA is a minor of G for all n??, but ?₀A is not a minor of G. This supplements previous examples showing that analogous statements are true if, instead of minors, isomorphic embeddings or topological minors are considered. The construction of A and G is based on the fact that there exist (infinite) graphs G₁, G₂,… such that G_i is not a minor of G_j for all i ≠ j. In contrast to previous examples concerning isomorphic embeddings and topological minors, the graphs A and G presented here are not locally finite. The following conjecture is suggested: for each locally finite connected graph A and each graph G, if nA is a minor of G for all n ? ?, then ?₀A is a minor of G, too. If true, this would be a far‐reaching generalization of a classical result of R. Halin on families of disjoint one‐way infinite paths in graphs. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 本文研究了Minkowski空间R₁³曲面的等距变形问题.建立了R₁³中曲面的共形、等距等概念.推广了O.Bonnet和S.S.Chern关于欧氏空间的结论.对R₁³出现的新情况——曲面的中曲率梯度类光作了一定探讨,得出的主要结果为:非平坦的、允许保主曲率等距变形的曲面一定不是W-曲面.     

Ultrametric spaces and related Hilbert spaces

We present simple proofs of the possibility of embedding ultrametric spaces in Hilbert spaces. The main part of the paper deals with ultrametric spaces that we call totally infinite spaces. Sobolev spaces on Lie groups: Embedding theorems and algebra properties

Let G be a noncompact connected Lie group, denote with ρ a right Haar measure and choose a family of linearly independent left-invariant vector fields X on G satisfying Hörmander's condition. Let χ be a positive character of G and consider the measure ${\mu }_{\chi }$ whose density with respect to ρ is χ. In this paper, we introduce Sobolev spaces $L_{\alpha }^p({\mu }_{\chi })$ adapted to X and ${\mu }_{\chi }$ ($1<p<\infty$, $\alpha \ge 0$) and study embedding theorems and algebra properties of these spaces. As an application, we prove local well-posedness and regularity results of solutions of some nonlinear heat and Schrödinger equations on the group.
