The purpose of this paper is to investigate the mean size formula of wavelet packets in Lp for 0 〈 p ≤ ∞. We generalize a mean size formula of wavelet packets given in terms of the p-norm joint spectral radius and we also give some asymptotic formulas for the Lp-norm or quasi-norm on the subdivision trees. We study conditions on the matrix mask of a vector subdivision scheme ensuring that certain polynomial input vectors yield polynomial output again. The conditions are in terms of a recurrence formula for the vectors which determine the structure of polynomial input with this property. From this recurrence, we obtain an algorithm to determine polynomial input of maximal degree. The algorithm can be used in the design of masks to achieve a high order of polynomial reproduction.  相似文献

Given a dilation matrix A :ℤd→ℤd, and G a complete set of coset representatives of 2π(A −Td/ℤd), we consider polynomial solutions M to the equation ∑ g∈G M(ξ+g)=1 with the constraints that M≥0 and M(0)=1. We prove that the full class of such functions can be generated using polynomial convolution kernels. Trigonometric polynomials of this type play an important role as symbols for interpolatory subdivision schemes. For isotropic dilation matrices, we use the method introduced to construct symbols for interpolatory subdivision schemes satisfying Strang–Fix conditions of arbitrary order. We investigate subdivision strategies that can improve the convergence and efficiency of some branch and bound algorithms of global optimization. In particular, a general class of so called weakly exhaustive simplicial subdivision processes is introduced that subsumes all previously known radial exhaustive processes. This result provides the basis for constructing flexible subdivision strategies that can be adapted to take advantage of various problem conditions.  相似文献

We consider solutions of a system of refinement equations written in the form

where the vector of functions is in and is a finitely supported sequence of matrices called the refinement mask. Associated with the mask is a linear operator defined on by . This paper is concerned with the convergence of the subdivision scheme associated with , i.e., the convergence of the sequence in the -norm.

Our main result characterizes the convergence of a subdivision scheme associated with the mask in terms of the joint spectral radius of two finite matrices derived from the mask. Along the way, properties of the joint spectral radius and its relation to the subdivision scheme are discussed. In particular, the -convergence of the subdivision scheme is characterized in terms of the spectral radius of the transition operator restricted to a certain invariant subspace. We analyze convergence of the subdivision scheme explicitly for several interesting classes of vector refinement equations.

Finally, the theory of vector subdivision schemes is used to characterize orthonormality of multiple refinable functions. This leads us to construct a class of continuous orthogonal double wavelets with symmetry.

Starting with an initial vector λ = (λ(κ))κ∈z ∈ ep(Z), the subdivision scheme generates asequence (Snaλ)∞n=1 of vectors by the subdivision operator Saλ(κ) = ∑λ(j)a(k - 2j), k ∈ Z. j∈zSubdivision schemes play an important role in computer graphics and wavelet analysis. It is very interesting tounderstand under what conditions the sequence (Snaλ)∞n=1 converges to an Lp-function in an appropriate sense.This problem has been studied extensively. In this paper we show that the subdivision scheme converges forany initial vector in ep(Z) provided that it does for one nonzero vector in that space. Moreover, if the integertranslates of the refinable function are stable, the smoothness of the limit function corresponding to the vectorλ is also independent of λ.  相似文献
