We study the Green's function for a general hyperbolic-parabolic system, including the Navier-Stokes equations for compressible fluids and the equations for magnetohydrodynamics. More generally, we consider general systems under the basic Kawashima- Shizuta type of conditions. The first result is to make precise the secondary waves with subscale structure, revealing the nature of coupling of waves pertaining to different characteristic families. The second result is on the continuous differentiability of the Green's function with respect to a small parameter when the coefficients of the system are smooth functions of that parameter. The results significantly improve previous results obtained by the authors.  相似文献

We investigate a model arising from biology, which is a hyperbolic- parabolic coupled system. First, we prove the global existence and asymptotic behavior of smooth solutions to the Cauchy problem without any smallness assumption on the initial data. Second, if the Hs ∩ Ll-norm of initial data is sufficiently small, we also establish decay rates of the global smooth solutions. In particular, the optimal L2 decay rate of the solution and the almost optimal L2 decay rate of the first-order derivatives of the solution are obtained. These results are obtained by constructing a new nonnegative convex entropy and combining spectral analysis with energy methods.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the vanishing viscosity limit of initial boundary value problems for one-dimensional mixed hyperbolic-parabolic systems when the boundary is characteristic for both the viscous and the inviscid systems: in particular, we assume that an eigenvalue of the inviscid system vanishes uniformly. We prove the stability of boundary layers expansions in small time (i.e before shocks for the inviscid system) as long as the amplitude of the boundary layers remains sufficiently small. In particular, by using Lagrangian coordinates, we apply our result to physical systems like gasdynamics and magnetohydrodynamics with homogeneous Dirichlet condition for the velocity at the boundary.  相似文献

In this paper, we study a class of hyperbolic-parabolic problems in periodically perforated domains with a homogeneous Neumann condition on the boundary of holes. We focus on the homogenization of these equations, which generalizes those achieved by BensoussanLions-Papanicolau and Migorski.
