Dispersion Robustness of Millimeter Waves Generated by Up-Conversion Strategies

Abstract

The performance degradation caused by transmission along dispersive single-mode fibers of optically generated millimeter-wave signals using up-conversion is theoretically assessed and validated by numerical simulation. Up-conversion techniques based on optical double sideband, optical single sideband, and optical carrier suppression are considered. The generation of 60 GHz by frequency tripling using the optical single sideband is shown to be particularly tolerant to the fiber dispersion. The practical imbalance of Mach-Zehnder modulators is taken into account for optical carrier suppression modulation, where the finite extinction ratio is found to increase tolerance to fiber dispersion.     

Modelling work hardening of aluminium alloys containing dispersoids

The influence of dispersoids on tensile deformation behaviour has been studied by comparison of aluminium alloys containing different dispersoid densities. It was found that a fine dispersion of non-shearable particles led to an increased work hardening at the initial plastic deformation, but the effect was opposite at higher strains. The reason has been attributed to the generation of geometrically necessary dislocations (GNDs). A new model has been proposed for the evolution of GNDs based on a balance of storage and dynamic recovery of GNDs. The model predicts a rapid saturation of GNDs and a reduced work hardening at small strains, consistent with the experimental results.

Difusion in Two-dimensional Magnetized Dusty Plasmas

A molecular dynamical simulation method is used to investigate the difusion of the two-dimensional magnetized dusty plasmas.The efects of charge and mass of the particles,as well as the external magnetic field are discussed in detail.It is shown that,relative to the mass of particulate,the charge and magnetic field have a more considerable efect on the difusion process,particularly on the resulting structure of the system.The dependence of difusion coefcient on the temperature is shown to be linearly changed over a wide range of temperature.     

External noise and its interaction with spatial degrees of freedom in nonlinear dissipative systems

A brief introduction to the field is given together with an overview of the lectures given at the workshop on External Noise and its Interaction with Spatial Degrees of Freedom in Nonlinear Dissipative Systems organized by the Center for Nonlinear Studies at Los Alamos, March 28–31, 1988. It is hoped that the publication of papers presented at the workshop in a single issue of theJournal of Statistical Physics will help draw attention to the recent developments in this rapidly area of nonequilibrium phenomena.     

光纤光栅对FBG-ECL静态特性的影响

光纤光栅外腔半导体激光器(FBG-ECL)在未来光通信系统占有着越来越重要的地位。根据FBG-ECL的等效腔模型,讨论了光纤光栅反射率、带宽对FBG-ECL的输出功率,阈值特性、边模抑制比等静态特性的影响。指出了存在最佳光纤光栅峰值反射率,不仅使得FBG-ECL具有更高的输出功率,而且可以获得极好的边模抑制比。最后根据实测在不同反射率下外腔激光器的激射光谱,发现理论分析结果和实验数据是吻合的。     

Nondestructive testing of external defects on Nanguo pear

In view of the common pests and diseases and irregularly shaped fruits of Nanguo pear, this paper fused the spectral information and image features to realize the rapid nondestructive testing and recognition of the external defects on Nanguo pear by hyperspectral imaging technology. Backpropagation neural network and support vector machine model was established to identify external defects, which are commonly used in classification and pattern recognition. The testing results show that recognition effect of support vector machine is better than backpropagation neural network. Among them, the recognition accuracy of fruits damaged by insects and rotten fruits of Nanguo pears reaches 100%. This study provides a theoretical basis for developing online grading system and quality detection of Nanguo pear based on multispectral imaging technique.

研究了以廉价的烟煤 ,煤矸石为原料加工而成的橡塑补强助剂NRF90 1的性能。其化学、物理和机械性能优于常用的补强炭黑N770 ,补强性能接近于高耐磨炭黑N330 ,是代替炭黑的新型助剂。
