Differentiable spaces that are subcartesian

We show that the differential structure of the orbit space of a proper action of a Lie group on a smooth manifold is weakly reflexive. This implies that the orbit space is a differentiable space in the sense of Smith, which ensures that the orbit space has an exterior algebra of differential forms, that satisfies Smith’s version of de Rham’s theorem. Because the orbit space is a locally closed subcartesian space, it has vector fields and their flows.     

A branch-and-bound method for the minimum k−enclosing ball problem

The minimum k-enclosing ball problem seeks the ball with smallest radius that contains at least k of m given points. This problem is NP-hard. We present a branch-and-bound algorithm on the tree of the subsets of k points to solve this problem. Our method is able to solve the problem exactly in a short amount of time for small and medium sized datasets.

On an Application of Newton's Method to Nonlinear Operators with w-Conditioned Second Derivative

We present a new approach to study the convergence of Newton's method in Banach spaces, which relax the conditions appearing in the usual studies. The approach is based on the bound required for the second derivative of the operator involved. An application to a nonlinear integral equation is presented.

本文利用Kothe函数空间的性质以及Kothe函数空间与Kothe-Bochner空间的关系,讨论了Kothe-Bochner空间E(X)的凸性,主要结果如下: (a)给出E(X)的端点的充分条件,得到了E(X)严格凸的判据,相应地推广了Lp(μ,X) 以及Lφ(X)的结果; (b)讨论了E(X)的弱局部一致凸和局部完全k-凸; (c)刻画了E(X)的强凸,给出了F(X)强凸的充要条件．     

Products of mixed covering arrays of strength two

A covering array CA(N;t,k, v is an N × k array such that every N × t subarray contains all t‐tuples from v symbols at least once, where t is the strength of the array. Covering arrays are used to generate software test suites to cover all t‐sets of component interactions. The particular case when t = 2 (pairwise coverage) has been extensively studied, both to develop combinatorial constructions and to provide effective algorithmic search techniques. In this paper, a simple “cut‐and‐paste” construction is extended to covering arrays in which different columns (factors) admit different numbers of symbols (values); in the process an improved recursive construction for covering arrays with t = 2 is derived. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. NEW WAVELET BASES FOR NON－HOMOGENEOUS SYMBOLIC SPACE OpS1,1^m AND RELATED KERNEL－DISTRIBUTION SPACES

This paper constructs several classes of new wavelet bases, which are unconditional bases for related operator spaces. Using these bases, the author analyzes non-homogeneous symbolic space OpSm1,1 and two related kernel-distribution spaces, and characterizes them in two wavelet coefficients spaces. Besides, some properties for singular integral operators are studied.
