Coset extensions of <Emphasis Type=”Italic”>S</Emphasis>-sets

Summary Three weak variants of compactness which lie strictly between compactness and quasicompactness, are introduced. Their basic properties are studied. The interplay with mapping and their direct and inverse preservation under mappings are investigated. In the process three decompositions of compactness are observed.     

On topological properties of the Hartman-Mycielski functor

We investigate some topological properties of a normal functorH introduced earlier by Radul which is some functorial compactification of the Hartman-Mycielski construction HM. We prove that the pair (H X, HMY) is homeomorphic to the pair (Q, σ) for each nondegenerated metrizable compactumX and each denseσ-compact subsetY.     

Calculus I: The first derivative of pseudoisotopy theory

Let P be the (stable, smooth) pseudoisotopy space of the space X. For any map Y: YX of spaces, we identify the homotopy type of the fiber of P(f): P(f) P(f) in a stable range, roughly twice the connectivity of the map YX. We establish some language for discussing and manipulating such stable-range relative calculations for any homotopy functor. The theorem about P has a corollary about Waldhausen's A. On deformed preprojective algebras

Deformed preprojective algebras are generalizations of the usual preprojective algebras introduced by Crawley-Boevey and Holland, which have applications to Kleinian singularities, the Deligne-Simpson problem, integrable systems and noncommutative geometry. In this paper we offer three contributions to the study of such algebras: (1) the 2-Calabi-Yau property; (2) the unification of the reflection functors of Crawley-Boevey and Holland with reflection functors for the usual preprojective algebras; and (3) the classification of tilting ideals in 2-Calabi-Yau algebras, and especially in deformed preprojective algebras for extended Dynkin quivers.

The ε c -Product of a Schwartz b-Space by a Quotient Banach Space and Applications

We define the -product of a -space by a quotient Banach space. We give conditions under which this -product will be monic. Finally, we define the _c -product of a Schwartz b-space by a quotient Banach space and we give some examples of applications.     

Strong duals of projective limits of (LB)-spaces

We investigate the problem when the strong dual of a projective limit of (LB)-spaces coincides with the inductive limit of the strong duals. It is well-known that the answer is affirmative for spectra of Banach spaces if the projective limit is a quasinormable Fréchet space. In that case, the spectrum satisfies a certain condition which is called strong P-type. We provide an example which shows that strong P-type in general does not imply that the strong dual of the projective limit is the inductive limit of the strong duals, but on the other hand we show that this is indeed true if one deals with projective spectra of retractive (LB)-spaces. Finally, we apply our results to a question of Grothendieck about biduals of (LF)-spaces.     

Order Environments of Topological Spaces

In this paper it is proved that a space may be realized as the set of the maximal elements in a continuous poset if and only if it is Tychonoff.     

The E-theoretic descent functor for groupoids

The paper establishes, for a wide class of locally compact groupoids Γ, the E-theoretic descent functor at the C^∗-algebra level, in a way parallel to that established for locally compact groups by Guentner, Higson and Trout. Section 2 shows that Γ-actions on a C₀(X)-algebra B, where X is the unit space of Γ, can be usefully formulated in terms of an action on the associated bundle B^?. Section 3 shows that the functor B→C^∗(Γ,B) is continuous and exact, and uses the disintegration theory of J. Renault. Section 4 establishes the existence of the descent functor under a very mild condition on Γ, the main technical difficulty involved being that of finding a Γ-algebra that plays the role of Cbcont(T,B) in the group case.     

Flow prolongation of some tangent valued forms

We study the prolongation of semibasic projectable tangent valued k-forms on fibered manifolds with respect to a bundle functor F on local isomorphisms that is based on the flow prolongation of vector fields and uses an auxiliary linear r-th order connection on the base manifold, where r is the base order of F. We find a general condition under which the Frölicher-Nijenhuis bracket is preserved. Special attention is paid to the curvature of connections. The first order jet functor and the tangent functor are discussed in detail. Next we clarify how this prolongation procedure can be extended to arbitrary projectable tangent valued k-forms in the case F is a fiber product preserving bundle functor on the category of fibered manifolds with m-dimensional bases and local diffeomorphisms as base maps.
