An M/G/1 retrial queueing system with additional phase of service and possible preemptive resume service discipline is considered. For an arbitrarily distributed retrial time distribution, the necessary and sufficient condition for the system stability is obtained, assuming that only the customer at the head of the orbit has priority access to the server. The steady-state distributions of the server state and the number of customers in the orbit are obtained along with other performance measures. The effects of various parameters on the system performance are analysed numerically. A general decomposition law for this retrial queueing system is established.  相似文献

We discuss the approximation of performance measures in multi-class M/M/k queues with preemptive priorities for large problem instances (many classes and servers) using class aggregation and server reduction. We compared our approximations to exact and simulation results and found that our approach yields small-to-moderate approximation errors.  相似文献

Priority queueing systems come natural when customers with diversified delay requirements have to wait to get service. The customers that cannot tolerate but small delays get service priority over customers which are less delay-sensitive. In this contribution, we analyze a discrete-time two-class preemptive repeat identical priority queue with infinite buffer space and generally distributed service times. Newly arriving high-priority customers interrupt the on-going service of a low-priority customer. After all high-priority customers have left the system, the interrupted service of the low-priority customer has to be repeated completely. By means of a probability generating functions approach, we analyze the system content and the delay of both types of customers. Performance measures (such as means and variances) are calculated and the impact of the priority scheduling is discussed by means of some numerical examples.  相似文献

This paper deals with a class of multiple objective linear programs (MOLP) called lexicographic multiple objective linear programs (LMOLP). In this paper, by providing an efficient algorithm which employs the preceding computations as well, it is shown how we can solve the LMOLP problem if the priority of the objective functions is changed. In fact, the proposed algorithm is a kind of sensitivity analysis on the priority of the objective functions in the LMOLP problems.  相似文献

We study a multiprocessor extension of the preemptive open shop scheduling problem, where the set of processors is partitioned into processor groups. This paper considers polling systems with an autonomous server that remains at a queue for an exponential amount of time before moving to a next queue incurring a generally distributed switch-over time. The server remains at a queue until the exponential visit time expires, also when the queue becomes empty. If the queue is not empty when the visit time expires, service is preempted upon server departure, and repeated when the server returns to the queue. The paper first presents a necessary and sufficient condition for stability, and subsequently analyzes the joint queue-length distribution via an embedded Markov chain approach. As the autonomous exponential visit times may seem to result in a system that closely resembles a system of independent queues, we explicitly investigate the approximation of our system via a system of independent vacation queues. This approximation is accurate for short visit times only.   相似文献

We consider the problem of scheduling n preemptive jobs on a single machine to minimize total tardiness, subject to agreeable due dates, i.e., a later release date corresponds to a later due date. We prove that the problem is -hard in the ordinary sense by showing that it is -hard, and deriving a pseudo-polynomial algorithm for it.  相似文献
