Qualitative properties and stabilizability of a model for blood thrombin formation

We perform a qualitative analysis of a differential equation that was originally introduced by Stortelder, Hemker and Hemker to model the formation of thrombin, and discuss issues of controllability and stabilizability. Results include a general proof of convergence to equilibrium, and of local exponential stabilizability.     

Asymptotic stability for Bresse systems

In this paper consider a vibrating system of Bresse type in a one-dimensional bounded domain with a nonlinear damping acting in the equation of the shear angle displacement, and nonlinear localized damping in other equations. We show the asymptotic stability without imposing conditions about the equal-speed wave propagation, using a method developed by Lasiecka and Tataru [9].     

Observability Inequalities by Internal Observation and Their Applications

By means of a Carleman estimate, we obtain several observability inequalities by internal observation for hyperbolic equations with lower-order terms. Also, we apply our observability results to an exact controllability problem and an inverse wave source problem.     

Rapid transfer alignment of laser SINS using quaternion based angular measurement

A novel rapid transfer alignment algorithm for laser strapdown inertial navigation system (SINS) is studied. Transfer alignment have typically relied on velocity measurements from the master SINS as the source of alignment information, but lever arm error must be compensated accurately while velocity information is utilized, all most every quaternion based error model is nonlinear, so nonlinear filtering algorithms are need, suffering from computational complex and large error. Aim at these problems, a novel improved rapid transfer alignment algorithm formulation is presented, applying quaternion to built the process and measurement models, the improvement employs a special manipulation of the measurement equation results in a linear pseudo-measurement equation, thus the classical linear Kalman filter is employed to estimate the state, need not lever arm error compensation, results in the reduce of computational burden. Observability analysis of this new transfer alignment algorithm has been done based on the piece-wise constant system (PWCS) method, results show that the presented algorithm can accomplish the initial alignment task perfectly. A transfer alignment simulation system is also developed for the evaluation and analysis of the presented algorithm, simulation results are confirmed with the theoretical conclusion, which can achieve the transfer alignment accuracy about 1 mrad within 10 s.     

Controllability cost of conservative systems: resolvent condition and transmutation

This article concerns the exact controllability of unitary groups on Hilbert spaces with unbounded control operator. It provides a necessary and sufficient condition not involving time which blends a resolvent estimate and an observability inequality. By the transmutation of controls in some time L for the corresponding second-order conservative system, it is proved that the cost of controls in time T for the unitary group grows at most like exp(αL²/T) as T tends to 0. In the application to the cost of fast controls for the Schrödinger equation, L is the length of the longest ray of geometric optics which does not intersect the control region. This article also provides observability resolvent estimates implying fast smoothing effect controllability at low cost, and underscores that the controllability cost of a system is not changed by taking its tensor product with a conservative system.

Non-commutative Markov chains and multi-analytic operators

We study a model of repeated interaction between quantum systems which can be thought of as a non-commutative Markov chain. It is shown that there exists an outgoing Cuntz scattering system associated to this model which induces an input-output formalism with a transfer function corresponding to a multi-analytic operator, in the sense of multivariate operator theory. Finally we show that observability for this system is closely related to the scattering theory of non-commutative Markov chains.

Interior controllability of semi-linear degenerate wave equations

In this paper, we prove the existence of interior controls for one-dimensional semi-linear degenerate wave equations. By using a duality argument, we reduce the problem to an observability estimate for the linear degenerate wave equation. First, the unique continuation for the degenerate wave equation is established. By means of this, and the multiplier method, we obtain the observability estimate.
