Matrix Rings with Summand Intersection Property

A ring R has right SIP (SSP) if the intersection (sum) of two direct summands of R is also a direct summand. We show that the right SIP (SSP) is the Morita invariant property. We also prove that the trivial extension of R by M has SIP if and only if R has SIP and (1 – e)Me = 0 for every idempotent e in R. Moreover, we give necessary and sufficient conditions for the generalized upper triangular matrix rings to have SIP.     

A remark on Mansfield's imprimitivity theorem

We show that the Morita equivalence part of Mansfield's Imprimitivity Theory can be obtained by Green's Imprimitivity Theorem (and duality theory).

     

Hochschild and cyclic (co)homology of superadditive categories

We define the Hochschild and cyclic (co)homology groups for superadditive categories and show that these (co)homology groups are graded Morita invariants. We also show that the Hochschild and cyclic homology are compatible with the tensor product of superadditive categories.     

N‐Methylpiperidine—A Useful Base Catalyst in the Morita–Baylis–Hillman Reaction

N‐methylpiperidine, a commercially available mild base, has effectively been utilized as a catalyst in the Morita–Baylis–Hillman reaction. Moderate to excellent yields (34–95%) and significant rate enhancement have been observed.     

Quaternionic structures

Any oriented 4-dimensional real vector bundle is naturally a line bundle over a bundle of quaternion algebras. In this paper we give an account of modules over bundles of quaternion algebras, discussing Morita equivalence, characteristic classes and K-theory. The results have been used to describe obstructions for the existence of almost quaternionic structures on 8-dimensional Spin^c manifolds in ?adek et al. (2008) [5] and may be of some interest, also, in quaternionic and algebraic geometry.     

On co-semihereditary rings

A ringR is left co-semihereditary (strongly left co-semihereditary) if every finitely cogenerated factor of a finitely cogenerated (arbitrary) injective leftR-module is injective. A left co-semihereditary ring, which is not strongly left co-semihereditary, is given to answer a question of Miller and Tumidge in the negative. If _R U _S defines a Morita duality,R is proved to be left co-semihereditary (left semihereditmy) if and only ifS is right semihereditary (right co-semihereditary). Assuming thatS⩾R is an almost excellent extension,S is shown to be (strongly) right co-semihereditary if and only ifR is (strongly) right co-semihereditary. Dérivations des Algèbres de Weyl Quantiques Multiparamétrées et de Certaines de leurs Localisations Simples

ABSTRACT

On calcule une base explicite de l'espace des dérivations modulo les dérivations intérieures des algèbres de Weyl quantiques et de certaines de leurs localisations simples. On applique les résultats obtenus à des questions de séparation à équivalence de Morita près de ces algèbres.

We compute an explicit basis of the space of derivations modulo inner derivations for quantum Weyl algebras and some of their simple localizations. We apply these results to separate these algebras up to Morita equivalence.

Equivalence Bimodule Between Non-Commutative Tori

The non-commutative torus C ^*(ⁿ,) is realized as the C*-algebra of sections of a locally trivial C*-algebra bundle over S with fibres isomorphic to C ^*n/S, ₁) for a totally skew multiplier ₁ on ⁿ/S. D. Poguntke [9] proved that A is stably isomorphic to C(S) C(^*( Zⁿ/S, ₁) C(S) A M_kl( C) for a simple non-commutative torus A and an integer kl. It is well-known that a stable isomorphism of two separable C*-algebras is equivalent to the existence of equivalence bimodule between them. We construct an A-C(S) A-equivalence bimodule.
