This paper discusses the advantages of using spreadsheets for problem specification and report generation in optimization projects. It summarizes some of the mathematical programming software which is compatible with popular spreadsheets. A small production planning problem is used to illustrate the steps in input and processing of the results. Two programs are compared in detail.  相似文献

The feasibility of solving LP problems on an Apple II is explored. The maximal size of problems that can be solved is found to be around 50 constraints and 100 variables. Run times may be over 12 hours in interpreted Applesoft basic and over one hour in compiled Applesoft basic. Numerical stability is somewhat problematic. Nonetheless, the conclusion is that nicely scaled problems can be solved on the Apple II.  相似文献

A large collection of factorial data analysis methods can be characterized by the following matrices: X , the k x n matrix of data, and A, B the symmetric positive definite matrices of size n, k which represent the chosen norms of ?n, ?k, respectively. All methods amount to computing the largest eigenvalues of U = XAXTB or the largest singular values of E = B1/2XA1/2 . In Part I of this paper we begin by a geometrical and probabilistic interpretation of the various methods, showing how U and E are defined in each case. We then define the computational kernel for factorial data analysis. We conclude by devising the numerical aspects of software implementation for this kernel on microcomputers and presenting the package INDA.  相似文献

This paper describes a feasibility study of a high magnification full field deformation measurement system. The system consists of an image acquiring and analysis system and an optical metallurgical microscope. It can be used to determine in-plane surface deformations at magnifications up to 2000 pixels/mm. Images from an optical microscope are acquired by using a CCD camera and a digitizing board, and stored in a microcomputer. The surface displacement field is determined by using the digital image correlation method. Displacement gradients on the surface are computed after smoothing the displacement data. By performing a number of experiments and analyzing them, sources of errors in the system and their magnitudes are determined. Methods to minimize these errors are also discussed. It is realized that the system has every potential of quantifying in-plane surface displacement fields and the strains on the surfaces of specimens used in the research areas of micromechanics of solids. © 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd. A computer-assisted method is presented for optimization of mobile phase composition in reverse-phase and normal-phase HPLC. The method is based on window diagrams, but only three preliminary tests are required. The method is successfully applied to two examples and there is good agreement between predicted and experimental results. Optimal values for ion concentration and pH in ion chromatography from a published optimization method are compared to values calculated using the computer-assisted method presented in this paper. The same results are obtained, but the method presented here is simpler and faster than previously published one.  相似文献
