Let A be a local ring, and let I 1,...,I r A be ideals of positive height. In this article we compare the Cohen–Macaulay property of the multi–Rees algebra R A (I 1,...,I r ) to that of the usual Rees algebra R A (I 1 ··· I r ) of the product I 1 ··· I r . In particular, when the analytic spread of I 1 ··· I r is small, this leads to necessary and sufficient conditions for the Cohen–Macaulayness of R A (I 1,...,I r ). We apply our results to the theory of joint reductions and mixed multiplicities.  相似文献

We investigate the minimal number of generators and the depth of divisorial ideals over normal semigroup rings. Such ideals are defined by the inhomogeneous systems of linear inequalities associated with the support hyperplanes of the semigroup. The main result is that for every bound C there exist, up to isomorphism, only finitely many divisorial ideals I such that (I)C. It follows that there exist only finitely many Cohen–Macaulay divisor classes. Moreover, we determine the minimal depth of all divisorial ideals and the behaviour of and depth in arithmetic progressions in the divisor class group. The results are generalized to more general systems of linear inequalities whose homogeneous versions define the semigroup in a not necessarily irredundant way. The ideals arising this way can also be considered as defined by the nonnegative solutions of an inhomogeneous system of linear diophantine equations. We also give a more ring-theoretic approach to the theorem on minimal number of generators of divisorial ideals: it turns out to be a special instance of a theorem on the growth of multigraded Hilbert functions.  相似文献

We prove Hochster’s small maximal Cohen–Macaulay conjecture for three-dimensional complete F-pure rings. We deduce this from a more general criterion, and show that only a weakening of the notion of F-purity is needed, to wit, being weakly F-split. We conjecture that any complete ring is weakly F-split.  相似文献

In this note, it is shown that the validity of the Auslander–Reiten conjecture for a given d-dimensional Cohen–Macaulay local ring R depends on its validity for all direct summands of d-th syzygy of R-modules of finite length, provided R is an isolated singularity. Based on this result, it is shown that under a mild assumption on the base ring R, satisfying the Auslander–Reiten conjecture behaves well under completion and reduction modulo regular elements. In addition, it will turn out that, if R is a commutative Noetherian ring and 𝒬 a finite acyclic quiver, then the Auslander–Reiten conjecture holds true for the path algebra R𝒬, whenever so does R. Using this result, examples of algebras satisfying the Auslander–Reiten conjecture are presented.  相似文献

Let 𝕂 be a field, and let R = 𝕂[x 1,…, x n ] be the polynomial ring over 𝕂 in n indeterminates x 1,…, x n . Let G be a graph with vertex-set {x 1,…, x n }, and let J be the cover ideal of G in R. For a given positive integer k, we denote the kth symbolic power and the kth bracket power of J by J (k) and J [k], respectively. In this paper, we give necessary and sufficient conditions for R/J k , R/J (k), and R/J [k] to be Cohen–Macaulay. We also study the limit behavior of the depths of these rings.  相似文献

Let be a complete local Cohen–Macaulay (CM) ring of dimension one. It is known that R has finite CM type if and only if R is reduced and has bounded CM type. Here we study the one-dimensional rings of bounded but infinite CM type. We will classify these rings up to analytic isomorphism (under the additional hypothesis that the ring contains an infinite field). In the first section we deal with the complete case, and in the second we show that bounded CM type ascends to and descends from the completion. In the third section we study ascent and descent in higher dimensions and prove a Brauer–Thrall theorem for excellent rings. Presented by J. We give a generalization of Eagon-Reiner’s theorem relating Betti numbers of the Stanley-Reisner ideal of a simplicial complex and the CMt property of its Alexander dual. Then we characterize bi-CMt bipartite graphs and bi-CMt chordal graphs. These are generalizations of recent results due to Herzog and Rahimi.  相似文献

Let (R,𝔪) be a local ring and s ≥ ?1. Using the notion of M-sequence in dimension > s, we introduce Cohen–Macaulay modules in dimension > s. Among other things concerning Cohen–Macaulay modules in dimension > s, some finiteness results of the support and the associated primes of local cohomology modules are investigated.  相似文献

We study Gorenstein dimension and grade of a module M over a filtered ring whose associated graded ring is a commutative Noetherian ring. An equality or an inequality between these invariants of a filtered module and its associated graded module is the most valuable property for an investigation of filtered rings. We prove an inequality G?dim M ≤ G?dim gr M and an equality grade M = grade gr M, whenever Gorenstein dimension of gr M is finite (Theorems 2.3 and 2.8). We would say that the use of G-dimension adds a new viewpoint for studying filtered rings and modules. We apply these results to a filtered ring with a Cohen–Macaulay or Gorenstein associated graded ring and study a Cohen–Macaulay, perfect, or holonomic module.  相似文献

The path ideal (of length t ≥ 2) of a directed graph Γ is the monomial ideal, denoted I t (Γ), whose generators correspond to the directed paths of length t in Γ. We study some of the algebraic properties of I t (Γ) when Γ is a tree. We first show that I t (Γ) is the facet ideal of a simplicial tree. As a consequence, the quotient ring R/I t (Γ) is always sequentially Cohen–Macaulay, and the Betti numbers of R/I t (Γ) do not depend upon the characteristic of the field. We study the case of the line graph in greater detail at the end of the article. We give an exact formula for the projective dimension of these ideals, and in some cases, we compute their arithmetical rank.  相似文献
