In this Letter, we present analytical solutions to the Lane-Emden equation describing the thermal behavior of a spherical cloud of gas acting under the mutual attraction of its molecules. Solutions are obtained by using the traditional power series approach and by using the Homotopy Analysis Method (HAM). We show that the series solutions obtained by the Homotopy Analysis Method converge in a larger interval than in the case of the corresponding traditional series solutions. Furthermore, we obtained numerical solutions (using Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg 4-5 technique) which are used to validate the analytical solutions.  相似文献

We establish the existence of positive entire solutions to cooperative systems of semilinear elliptic equations involving nonlinearities with critical and supercritical growth. Consequently, we obtain existence results to several well-known model examples such as systems of the Hénon, Lane–Emden, and stationary Schrödinger types. The main technique for generating our results relies on a topological approach for the shooting method combined with nonexistence results to closely related boundary value problems.  相似文献

In this paper we prove unique continuation principles for some systems of elliptic partial differential equations satisfying a suitable superlinearity condition. As an application, we obtain nonexistence of nontrivial (not necessarily positive) radial solutions for the Lane-Emden system posed in a ball, in the critical and supercritical regimes. Some of our results also apply to general fully nonlinear operators, such as Pucci's extremal operators, being new even for scalar equations.  相似文献

By the use of the Chebyshev series, a direct computational method for solving the higher order nonlinear differential equations has been developed in this paper. This method transforms the nonlinear differential equation into the matrix equation, which corresponds to a system of nonlinear algebraic equations with unknown Chebyshev coefficients, via Chebyshev collocation points. The solution of this system yields the Chebyshev coefficients of the solution function. An algorithm for this nonlinear system is also proposed in this paper. The method is valid for both initial-value and boundary-value problems. Several examples are presented to illustrate the accuracy and effectiveness of the method.  相似文献

First integrals admitted by an approximate Lane-Emden equation modelling a thermal explosion in a rectangular slab and cylindrical vessel are investigated. By imposing the boundary conditions on the first integrals we obtain a nonlinear relationship between the temperature at the center of the vessel and the temperature gradient at the wall of the vessel. For a rectangular slab the presence of a bifurcation indicates multivalued solutions for the temperature at the center of the vessel when the temperature gradient at the wall is fixed. For a cylindrical vessel we find a bifurcation indicating multivalued solutions for the temperature gradient at the walls of the vessel when the temperature at the center of the vessel is fixed.  相似文献

Starting with the general "quadratic gravity" in four dimensions, linearization, assumption of the weak gravitational field to be static and matter to be a perfect fluid, one arrives at the modified Lane-Emden equation. The solutions of the modified Lane-Emden equation are found and the formulas for the stellar radius are obtained in two cases of the polytropic index N = 0 and N = 1. The influence of the additional Yukawa forces in the linearized higher-order gravitation on the Newtonian stellar structure is discussed.  相似文献
