The lattice profile analyzes the intrinsic structure of pseudorandom number sequences with applications in Monte Carlo methods and cryptology. In this paper, using the discrete Fourier transform for periodic sequences and the relation between the lattice profile and the linear complexity, we give general formulas for the expected value, variance, and counting function of the lattice profile of periodic sequences with fixed period. Moreover, we determine in a more explicit form the expected value, variance, and counting function of the lattice profile of periodic sequences for special values of the period. 相似文献

Eight measures of rate of convergence of monotone sequences of real numbers have been proposed and discussed in a paper by Beyer, Ebanks, and Qualls (Acta Appl. Math. 20 (1990), 267–284). These rates arose in discussions of dynamical systems. In the comparisons of these rates, two problems remained. Integration of the subsurface flow equation by finite elements (FE) in space and finite differences (FD) in time requires the repeated solution to sparse symmetric positive definite systems of linear equations. Iterative techniques based on preconditioned conjugate gradients (PCG) are one of the most attractive tool to solve the problem on sequential computers. A present challenge is to make PCG attractive in a parallel computing environment as well. To this aim a key factor is the development of an efficient parallel preconditioner. FSAI (factorized sparse approximate inverse) and enlarged FSAI relying on the approximate inverse of the coefficient matrix appears to be a most promising parallel preconditioner. In the present paper PCG using FSAI, diagonal and pARMS (parallel algebraic recursive multilevel solvers) preconditioners is implemented on the IBM SP4/512 and CLX/768 supercomputers with up to 32 processors to solve underground flow problems of a large size. The results show that FSAI may allow for a parallel relative efficiency larger than 50% on the largest problems with p=32 processors. Moreover, FSAI turns out to be significantly less expensive and more robust than pARMS. Finally, it is shown that for p in the upper range may be much improved if PCG–FSAI is implemented on CLX. 相似文献

The searches made to obtain these parameters were based on quality measures that look at several projections of the lattice. Because it is often the case in practice that low-dimensional projections are very important, it is of interest to find parameters for these sequences based on measures that look more closely at these projections. In this paper, we prove the existence of “good” extensible Korobov rules with respect to a quality measure that considers two-dimensional projections. We also report results of experiments made on different problems where the newly obtained parameters compare favorably with those given in [F.J. Hickernell, H.S. Hong, P. L’Ecuyer, C. We study the elastic properties of single A/B random copolymer chains, with a specific sequence and use them as theoretical
model for so called HP proteins. HP proteins carry hydrophilic (P) and hydrophobic (H) monomers. We predict a rich structure
in the force-extension relations which can be attributed to the information in the sequence. The variational method is used
to probe local minima on the path of stretching and releasing for the chain molecules. At a given force, we find multiple
configurations which are separated by energy barriers. A collapsed globular configuration consists of several domains which
unravel cooperatively. Upon stretching, the unfolding path shows a stepwise pattern corresponding to the unfolding of each
domain. While releasing, several cores can be created simultaneously in the middle of the chain, resulting in a different
path of collapse. The long-range interactions and stiffness of the chain simplify the potential landscape given by the disorder
in sequence.
