Summary The problem of non-scalability of structures under impact loads caused by strain-rate effects is solved in this article by properly correcting the impact velocity. The technique relies on the use of an alternative dimensionless basis, together with a mathematical model which allows the calculation of a correction factor for the impact velocity. This new velocity, when applied to the model, makes it to assure the satisfaction of the scaling laws. The indirect similitude method detailed here is applied to two strain-rate sensitive structures, a double plate under in-plane impact and a beam subjected to a blast load. The results show a very good agreement so that the model and a prototype made from strain rate sensitive materials behave the same.accepted for publication 3 March 2004  相似文献

In this paper experimental study and mathematical modelling of newly designed vibro-impact moling rig are presented. The design is based on electro-mechanical interactions of a conductor with an oscillating magnetic field. The rig consists of a metal bar placed within a solenoid which is connected to an RLC circuit, and an obstacle block positioned nearby. Both the solenoid and the block are attached to a base board. Externally supplied alternating voltage causes the bar to oscillate and hit the block resulting in the forward motion of the base board mimicking a mole penetration through the soil. By varying the excitation voltage and the capacitance in the circuit, a variety of system responses can be obtained.In the paper the rig design and experimental procedure are explained in detail, and the mathematical modelling of the rig is described. Then the obtained coupled electro-mechanical equations of motion are integrated numerically, and a comparison between experimental results and numerical predictions is presented.  相似文献

The impact properties of two selected metallocene-catalyzed ethylene-butene copolymers and one conventionalcopolymer were evaluated using Izod impact test. It is found that the metallocene-catalyzed copolymer shows superior impactproperties. This result was explained on the basis of the more homogeneous inter-molecular composition distribution andnarrower molecular weight distribution, which leads to more homogeneous morphology with fewer defects. Stepwisecrystallization improves the impact properties, especially in the crack propagation process, to a large extent. This is due to thedecrease of entanglements by stepwise crystallization, which is advantageous for the chain slip and shear. The polymer withheterogeneous intra-molecular composition distribution exhibits a more evident improvement of impact properties understepwise crystallization.  相似文献

Presenting a condensation of the opening lecture of the 12th ICFIA conference, this communication presents a view of the impact that flow injection analysis (FIA) has had on modern analytical chemistry, evaluated both within the academic community and outside it, i.e. in “industry”. The ensuing developments of FIA, encompassing sequential injection analysis (SIA) and bead injection lab-on-valve (BI-LOV), are described and their individual features discussed. Finally, some recent results of the activities from the author’s own research group are briefly mentioned.  相似文献

Some explosives are stable molecules with large energy barriers to chemical reaction, and in shock or impact initiation, a sizable amount of phonon energy must be converted to the molecular internal higher vibrations by multiphonon up pumping. To investigate the relationship between impact sensitivities and energy transfer rates, the number of doorway modes of explosive molecules is estimated by a simple theory in which the rate is proportional to the number of normal mode vibrations. We evaluated frequencies of normal mode vibrations of 13 explosive molecules which are CHNO nitramine-contained and have not been analyzed previously. The number of doorway modes in the regions of 200–700 cm−1 was evaluated by the direct counting method. For more clear investigation of the relationship we have classified these 13 nitramine explosive molecules, by the number of nitramine group they contained, into two groups. There are eight molecules that contained one nitramine group and five molecules that contained poly-nitramine groups. It is found that the number of doorway modes shows a linearly correlation to the impact sensitivities derived from drop hammer tests. This result is in agreement with that of several previous works. Besides, it is also noted in our study that in those nitramine explosives molecules with similar molecular structure (similar number nitramine group they contained) and similar molecular weight, the correlation between the sensitivity and the number of doorway modes is higher. We found that the vibrational frequency of ω corresponds to nitro group motions of every molecule is contributed to the number of doorway modes in the regions of 200–700 cm−1.  相似文献

The influence of photochemical aging of in situ polymerized PS/AES blends on their mechanical properties has been studied. The PS/AES blends were subjected to photochemical aging for 168 h and 720 h. Tensile properties and Izod impact resistance of aged and non-aged samples were evaluated. The mechanical properties of the PS/AES blends are influenced by the polymerization temperature and blend composition and represent a balance between the toughness of EPDM and the stiffness of SAN in the PS matrix. Even though the impact resistance and strain at break of HIPS are higher than those of the PS/AES blends, after the aging period all PS/AES blends showed higher strain at break than HIPS. PS/AES blends present higher photochemical stability than HIPS.  相似文献

There is no universal method to perform dynamic analysis on solid rubber anti-vibration systems. In this article, an equivalent damping ratio is introduced to account for rubber hysteresis using a resilience experiment. A new concept, NFR (Natural Frequency Region), is defined for dynamic evaluation based on natural characteristics of a rubber anti-vibration system itself. Two typical industrial products were selected to verify the proposed NFR approach. The verification procedure involves three parts: natural frequencies, harmonic spectra and impact responses. The dynamic responses from both simulation and experiment have been compared and have not only demonstrated that the proposed approach is reliable but that it could also be used to guide the design of rubber anti-vibration systems in industry. The key points for applying this approach are also presented through the verification procedure.  相似文献

We extend the analysis, started in a previous work [1], concerning the formation of lunar impact craters due to low-energy trajectories. First, we adopt the Circular Restricted Three-Body Problem and consider different choices of initial conditions inside the stable invariant manifold associated with the central invariant one in the neighborhood of the L2 equilibrium point in the Earth-Moon system. Then we move to the Bicircular Restricted Four-Body Problem to study the effect of the Sun on the distribution of impacts on the Moon’s surface.  相似文献
