We study a two-customer sequential resource allocation problem with equity constraint, which is reflected by a max–min objective. For finite discrete demand distribution, we give a sufficient and necessary condition under which the optimal solution has monotonicity property. However, this property never holds with unbounded discrete distribution.  相似文献

Socially Responsible Investing (SRI) is broadly defined as an investment process that integrates not only financial but also social, environmental, and ethical (SEE) considerations into investment decision making. SRI has grown rapidly around the world in the last decades. In the last years, given the causes of the 2008 financial crisis, ethical, social, environmental and governance concerns have become even more relevant investment decision criteria. However, while a diverse set of models have been developed to support investment decision-making based on financial criteria, models including also social responsibility criteria are rather scarce.  相似文献

This paper concerns the finite-horizon optimal reorganization problem under debt–equity swap. The model of equity is formulated as a parabolic variational inequality, or equivalently, a free boundary problem, where the free boundary corresponds to the optimal reorganization boundary. The existence and uniqueness of the solution are proven and the behavior of the free boundary, such as smoothness, monotonicity and boundedness, is studied. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first complete set of results on debt–equity swap for finite maturity obtained using PDE techniques.  相似文献

The main purpose of this paper is a risk theory insight into the problem of asset-liability and solvency adaptive management. In the multiperiodic insurance risk model composed of chained classical risk models, a zone-adaptive control strategy, essentially similar to that applied in Directives [Directive 2002/13/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 5 March 2002, Brussels, 5 March 2002], is introduced and its performance is examined analytically. That examination was initiated in [Malinovskii, V.K., 2006b. Adaptive control strategies and dependence of finite time ruin on the premium loading. Insurance: Math. Econ. (in press)] and is based on the application of the explicit expression for the finite-time ruin probability in the classical risk model. The result of independent interest in the paper is the representation of that finite-time ruin probability in terms of asymptotic series, as time increases.  相似文献

In this note, we discuss two solutions for cooperative transferable utility games, namely the Shapley value and the Proper Shapley value. We characterize positive Proper Shapley values by affine invariance and by an axiom that requires proportional allocation of the surplus according to the individual singleton worths in generalized joint venture games. As a counterpart, we show that affine invariance and an axiom that requires equal allocation of the surplus in generalized joint venture games characterize the Shapley value.  相似文献

We present a nonparametric approach for (1) efficiency and (2) equity evaluation in education. Firstly, we use a nonparametric (Data Envelopment Analysis) model that is specially tailored to assess educational efficiency at the pupil level. The model accounts for the fact that typically minimal prior structure is available for the behavior (objectives and feasibility set) under evaluation. It allows for uncertainty in the data, while it corrects for exogenous ‘environmental’ characteristics that are specific to each pupil. Secondly, we propose two multidimensional stochastic dominance criteria as naturally complementary aggregation criteria for comparing the performance of different school types (private and public schools). While the first criterion only accounts for efficiency, the second criterion also takes equity into consideration. The model is applied for comparing private (but publicly funded) and public primary schools in Flanders. Our application finds that no school type robustly dominates another type when controlling for the school environment and taking equity into account. More generally, it demonstrates the usefulness of our nonparametric approach, which includes environmental and equity considerations, for obtaining ‘fair’ performance comparisons in the public sector context.  相似文献

Abstract

We present a closed pricing formula for European options under the Black–Scholes model as well as formulas for its partial derivatives. The formulas are developed making use of Taylor series expansions and a proposition that relates expectations of partial derivatives with partial derivatives themselves. The closed formulas are attained assuming the dividends are paid in any state of the world. The results are readily extensible to time-dependent volatility models. For completeness, we reproduce the numerical results in Vellekoop and Nieuwenhuis, covering calls and puts, together with results on their partial derivatives. The closed formulas presented here allow a fast calculation of prices or implied volatilities when compared with other valuation procedures that rely on numerical methods.  相似文献

This paper deals with the problem of pricing equity warrants in a mixed fractional Brownian environment. Based on the quasi-conditional expectation and the Fourier transform, we present the pricing model for equity warrants. Moreover, a hybrid intelligent algorithm, which is based on the Genetic Algorithm, is employed to solve the nonlinear optimization problem. The performance of our model and the proposed algorithm have been illustrated with some numerical examples.  相似文献

Managers in both for-profit and not-for-profit organisations continually face the task of allocating resources by balancing costs, benefits and risks and gaining commitment by a wide constituency of stakeholders to those decisions. This task is complex and difficult because many options are present, benefits and risks are rarely expressed as single objectives, multiple stakeholders with different agendas compete for limited resources, individually optimal resource allocations to organisational units are rarely collectively optimal, and those dissatisfied with the decisions taken may resist implementation. We first explain three current approaches to resource allocation taken from corporate finance, operational research and decision analysis, and we identify a common mistake organisations make in allocating resources. The paper then presents a technical process, multi-criteria portfolio analysis, for balancing the conflicting elements of the problem, and a social process, decision conferencing, which engages all the key players during the modelling process, ensuring their ownership of the model and the subsequent implementation. This socio-technical process improves communication within the organisation, develops shared understanding of the portfolio and generates a sense of common purpose about those projects that will best realise the organisation’s objectives. The paper concludes with lessons we have learned from actual practice. The authors want to thank Allergan and FCT (Portuguese Science Foundation) for their support.  相似文献

In this paper, we study an extension of the Linear Multiple Choice Knapsack (LMCK) Problem that considers two objectives. The problem can be used to find the optimal allocation of an available resource to a group of disjoint sets of activities, while also ensuring that a certain balance on the resource amounts allocated to the activity sets is attained. The first objective maximizes the profit incurred by the implementation of the considered activities. The second objective minimizes the maximum difference between the resource amounts allocated to any two sets of activities. We present the mathematical formulation and explore the fundamental properties of the problem. Based on these properties, we develop an efficient algorithm that obtains the entire nondominated frontier. The algorithm is more efficient than the application of the general theory of multiple objective linear programming (MOLP), although there is a close underlying relationship between the two. We present theoretical findings which provide insight into the behavior of the algorithm, and report computational results which demonstrate its efficiency for randomly generated problems.
