Let T be a bounded linear operator in a Banach space, with σ(T)={1}. In 1983, Esterle-Berkani' s conjecture was proposed for the decay of differences (I - T) T^n as follows: Eitheror lim inf (n→∞(n+1)||(I-T)T^n||≥1/e or T = I. We prove this claim and discuss some of its consequences. 相似文献

This paper derives the convection–diffusion-reaction equation governing the reaction between the dissolved oxygen in sea-water and the steel walls of a pulsating crack. By the neglect of the diffusion term it is shown that an exact solution of the convection-reaction equation can be obtained. A numerical method for the solution of the complete convection–diffusion-reaction equation is derived by the use of finite differences. The numerical computation of the initial transient and the final periodic steady-state values is also discussed. 相似文献

Let be a semigroup and a topological space. Let be an Abelian topological group. The right differences of a function are defined by for . Let be continuous at the identity of for all in a neighbourhood of . We give conditions on or range under which is continuous for any topological space . We also seek conditions on under which we conclude that is continuous at for arbitrary . This led us to introduce new classes of semigroups containing all complete metric and locally countably compact quasitopological groups. In this paper we study these classes and explore their relation with Namioka spaces.

On the applicability of the HSAB principle through the use of improved computational schemes for chemical hardness evaluation 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Finite difference schemes, named Compact Finite Difference Schemes with Spectral-like Resolution, have been used for a less crude approximation of the analytical hardness definition as the second-order derivative of the energy with respect to the electron number. The improved computational schemes, at different levels of theory, have been used to calculate global hardness values of some probe bases, traditionally classified as hard and soft on the basis of their chemical behavior, and to investigate the quantitative applicability of the HSAB principle. Exchange acid-base reactions have been used to test the HSAB principle assuming the reaction energies as a measure of the stabilization of product adducts. 相似文献

A system of reaction–diffusion equations which governs the propagation of an ozone decomposition laminar flame in Lagrangian co-ordinates is analysed by means of compact operators and modified equation methods. It is shown that the use of fourth-order accurate compact operators yields very accurate solutions if sufficient numbers of grid points are located at the flame front, where very steep gradients of temperature and species concentrations exist. Modified equation methods are shown to impose a restriction on the time step under certain conditions. The solutions obtained by means of compact operators and modified equation methods are compared with solutions obtained by other methods; good agreement is obtained. 相似文献

For a R d -valued sequence of martingale differences { m k } k S 1 , we obtain a moderate deviation principle for the sequence of partial sums { Z n ( t ) 1 ~ k =1 [ nt ] m k / b n , t ] [0,1]}, in the space of càdlàg functions equipped with the Skorohod topology, under the following conditions: a Chen-Ledoux type condition, an exponential convergence in probability of the associated quadratic variation process of the martingale, and a condition of "Lindeberg" type. For the small jumps of Z n (·), we apply the general result of Puhalskii [Puhalskii, A. (1994). "Large deviations of semimartingales via convergence of the predictable characteristics". Stoch. Stoch. Rep. , 49 , pp. 27-85]. Following the method of Ledoux [Ledoux, M. (1992). "Sur les déviations modérées des sommes de variables aléatoires vectorielles indépendantes de même loi". Ann. Inst. H. Poincaré , 28 , pp. 267-280] and Arcones [Arcones, A. (1999). "The large deviation principle for stochastic processes", Submitted for publication], we prove that the large jumps part of Z n (·) is negligible in the sense of the moderate deviations. One can regard our result as an extension to martingale differences, of the beautiful characterization of moderate deviations for i.i.d.r.v. case due to Chen [Chen, X. (1991). "The moderate deviations of independent vectors in Banach space". Chin. J. Appl. Probab. Stat. , 7 , pp. 124-32] and Ledoux [Ledoux, M. (1992). "Sur les déviations modérées des sommes de variables aléatoires vectorielles indépendantes de même loi". Ann. Inst. H. Poincaré , 28 , pp. 267-280]. Using the Gordin [Gordin, M.I. (1969). "The central limit theorem for stationary processes". Soviet Math. Dokl. , 10 , pp. 1174-1176] decomposition, the martingale result is applied to prove the moderate deviation principle for a wide class of stationary { -mixing sequences of random variables. 相似文献

Enormous advances in photothermal catalysis have been made over the years, whereas the temperature assessment still remains controversial in the majority of photothermal catalytic systems. Herein, we methodically uncovered the phenomenon of temperature determination bias arising from prominent temperature differences in gas-solid photothermal catalytic systems, which extensively existed yet has been overlooked in most relevant cases. To avoid the interference of temperature bias, we developed a universal protocol for reliable temperature evaluation of gas-solid photothermal catalytic reactions, with emphasis on eliminating the temperature gradient and temperature fluctuation of catalyst layer via optimizing the reaction system. This work presents a functional and credible practice for temperature detection, calling attention to addressing the effects of temperature differences, and reassessing the actual temperature-based performances in gas-solid photothermal catalysis. 相似文献
