On the law S ( S ( x , y ), T ( x , y )) = S ( x , y ) of fuzzy logic

Motivated by some functional models arising in fuzzy logic, when classical boolean relations between sets are generalized, we study the functional equation S(S(x, y), T(x, y)) = S(x, y), where S is a continuous t-conorm and T is a continuous t-norm. Some interesting methods for solving this type of equations are introduced.

In this paper we continue our study of stability properties of subnorms on subsets of finite-dimensional, power-associative algebras over the real or the complex numbers.

Association of poly-N-[tris(hydroxymethyl)methyl] acrylamide with a water soluble β-cyclodextrin polymer

An acrylic polymer with pendent adamantyl groups was synthesized and its properties in an aqueous solution with a β-cyclodextrin (βCD) epichlorhydrin polymer examined. Viscosity properties of precursor and modified polymers show differences at low concentrations, but not at higher concentration probably due to very important hydrogen bonds which prevent the formation of intermolecular hydrophobic bonds. The association of both complementary polymers through the inclusion of adamantyl groups is evidenced by phases separation occurrence. Phase diagrams were established at two different concentrations of polymers. We have shown a maximal association of both polymers at these two concentrations, for the same ratio βCD moles/adamantyl groups: 2.4. Salt addition favors this association and displaces the two phases zone to smaller concentrations of modified polymer. Further, 4-nitrophenol can be extracted by the concentrated phase resulting from mixture of solutions of guest and host polymers, pointing out the availability of the associated phase to trap organic molecules.     

Primeness of the enveloping algebra of a Cartan type Lie superalgebra

We show that a primeness criterion for enveloping algebras of Lie superalgebras discovered by Bell is applicable to the Cartan type Lie superalgebras , even. Other algebras are considered but there are no definitive answers in these cases.

This paper aims to determine the minimal dimensions and super-dimensions of faithful representations for Heisenberg Lie superalgebras over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero.     

Quantizer–dequantizer operators as a tool for formulating the quantization procedure

We consider the quantization procedure and investigate the application of the quantizer–dequantizer method and star-product technique to construct associative products and the associative algebras formed by the quantizer–dequantizer operators and their symbols. The corresponding Lie algebras are also constructed. We study the case where the quantizer–dequantizer operators form a self-dual system and show that the structure constants of the Lie algebras satisfy some identity, in addition to the Jacobi identity. Using tomographic quantizer–dequantizer operators and their symbols, we construct the continuous associative algebra and the corresponding Lie algebra.     

Associative thickeners. Part I: Synthesis,rheology and aggregation behavior

Nonionic associative thickeners with systematic changes in chemical composition have been synthesized. Rheological measurements of thickened latexes are presented as well as measurements of relaxation times, intrinsic viscosity and osmotic pressure of polymers in pure water solution. We find that the general hydrophobicity of the polymers' end groups control both rheology and efficiency. Hydrophobic parts in the interior of the polymer do not seem to effect rheology in latex systems. Viscosity increases with molecular weight in the low molecular region (Mw<10000), and passes through a maximum in the high molecular region. The thickeners seem to form micelle-like aggregates even at very low concentrations, while at higher concentrations the viscoelastic properties may be modeled by means of one Maxwell element. Only the network relaxation times but not the network structure seems to be dependent on the polymers' end group.
