The paper is concerned with the study of plasticity models described by differential equations with stop and play operators.
We suggest sufficient conditions for the global stability of a unique periodic solution for the scalar models and for the
vector models with biaxial inputs of a particular form, namely the sum of a uniaxial function and a constant term. For another
class of simple biaxial inputs, we present an example of the existence of unstable periodic solutions.
The paper was written during the research stay of D. Rachinskii at the Technical University Munich supported by the research
fellowship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. A Volterra type integral equation in a Hilbert space with an additional linear operator L and a spectral parameter depending
on time is considered. If the parameter does not belong to the spectrum of L unconditional solvability of the considered problem
is proved. In the case where the initial value of the parameter coincides with some isolated point of the spectrum of the
operator L sufficient conditions for solvability are established. The obtained results are applied to the partial integral

Consider the problem of three point vortices (also called Helmholtz’ vortices) on a plane, with arbitrarily given vorticities.
The interaction between vortices is proportional to 1/r, where r is the distance between two vortices. The problem has 2 equilateral and at most 3 collinear normalized relative equilibria.
This 3 is the optimal upper bound. Our main result is that the above standard statements remain unchanged if we consider an
interaction proportional to r
b, for any b < 0. For 0 < b < 1, the optimal upper bound becomes 5. For positive vorticities and any b < 1, there are exactly 3 collinear normalized relative equilibria. The case b = −2 of this last statement is the well-known theorem due to Euler: in the Newtonian 3-body problem, for any choice of the
3 masses, there are 3 Euler configurations (also known as the 3 Euler points). These small upper bounds strengthen the belief
of Kushnirenko and Khovanskii [18]: real varieties defined by simple systems should have a simple topology. We indicate some
hard conjectures about the configurations of relative equilibrium and suggest they could be attacked within the quasi-polynomial

A model for the dynamic, adhesive, frictionless contact
between a viscoelastic body and a deformable foundation is
described. The adhesion process is modeled by a bonding field on
the contact surface. The contact is described by a modified normal
compliance condition. The tangential shear due to the bonding
field is included. The problem is formulated as a coupled system
of a variational equality for the displacements and a differential
equation for the bonding field. The existence of a unique weak
solution for the problem is established, together with a partial
regularity result. The existence proof proceeds by construction of
an appropriate mapping which is shown to be a contraction on a

This paper is concerned with investigation of the
influence of pre-stress and pre-polarization on the decay of
Saint-Venant end effects in piezoelectric solids. This issue is
examined within the framework of incremental anti-plane shear
states for prestressed and prepolarized solids. Attention is
confined to a specific class of materials, namely those of
hexagonal 6mm or 4mm symmetry. It is shown that the mechanical
and electrical fields uncouple in this case, and the governing
system of coupled second-order linear partial differential
equations uncouple to a single homogeneous second-order equation
with constant coefficients for the displacement and a Poisson
equation for the electric potential. The exact decay rate for
mechanical and electrical end effects is determined and the
influence of pre-stress and pre-polarization is assessed.
Motivation for this work arises from the current rapid

The likelihood method is developed for the analysis of socalled regular point patterns. Approximating the normalizing factor of Gibbs canonical distribution, we simultaneously estimate two parameters, one for the scale and the other which measures the softness (or hardness), of repulsive interactions between points. The approximations are useful up to a considerably high density. Some real data are analyzed to illustrate the utility of the parameters for characterizing the regular point pattern. 相似文献
