Professor Xikui Jiang was born on September 5, 1926 in Shanghai, China. He received a B.Sc with honors from St. John's University, Shanghai in 1947 and a Ph.D. degree from the University of Washington at Seattle (with H. J. Dauben) in 1952. He then joined M, W, Kellog Company as a research chemist for three years. During this period, he invented the addition reaction of SO3 to fluoroethylene. In the following decades, this reaction had found wide applications chemical industry. In 1956, Dr. Jiang returned to China and was appointed as associate professor in the Institute of Chemistry in Beijing, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). In 1963, he and his research group moved to Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry (SIOC) of CAS. He was promoted to full professorship in 1978 and elected to the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1991. 相似文献
