This paper presents accurate elastic solutions for the rotating variable-thickness and/or uniform-thickness orthotropic circular cylinders. The present circular cylinder may contain a uniform-thickness solid core of rigid or homogeneously isotropic material. Different cases of rotating cylinders of various cores are investigated. These cylinders include completely isotropic solid cylinder, uniform-thickness orthotropic cylinder containing an isotropic core, variable-thickness orthotropic cylinder containing an isotropic core, uniform-thickness orthotropic cylinder containing a rigid core, and variable-thickness orthotropic cylinder containing a rigid core. For all cases studied, exact elastic solutions are obtained and numerical results are presented. The results include the radial, hoop, and axial stresses and radial displacement of the five cylinder configurations. The distributions of displacement and stresses through the radial direction of the rotating cylinder are obtained and comparisons between different cases are made at the same angular velocity.  相似文献

In this paper, the magneto-thermo-mechanical response of a functionally graded magneto-elastic material (FGMM) annular variable-thickness rotating disk is investigated. The material properties namely material stiffness, heat conduction coefficient, thermal expansion coefficient, mass density and magnetic permeability are assumed to vary continuously along the radial direction according to a power law. The thickness profile of the disk placed in a uniform magnetic field and subjected to the thermal load is assumed to be hyperbolic in nature. The effects of the magnetic field, grading index and geometric nonlinearity on the mechanical and thermal stresses of the disk are investigated. For a specific value of the grading index the maximum radial stress due to magneto-mechanical load in a mounted FGMM disk with hyperbolic convergent profile is found away from the center. This result is different from other thickness profile disks where the radial stresses are always at the center. It is observed that unlike radial stress in a mounted FGM disk subjected to mechanical load only where it is always tensile, the radial stress due to magneto-thermal load in a mounted FGMM disk can be both tensile and compressive type. It is seen that a decrease in the value of grading index invokes shifting of the location of the maximum temperature in FGMM disk with hyperbolic convergent profile towards the outer surface of the disk.  相似文献

In this paper, an exact solution to the governing equations of the bending of a variable-thickness inhomogeneous rectangular plate is presented. The procedure is applicable to variable-thickness inhomogeneous rectangular plates with two opposite edges simply supported. The remaining ones subjected to a combination of clamped, simply supported, and free boundary conditions and between these two edges the plate may have varying thickness. The procedure is valuable in view of the fact that tables of deflections and stresses cannot be presented for variable-thickness inhomogeneous orthotropic plates as for uniform-thickness homogeneous isotropic plates even for commonly encountered loads because the results depend on the inhomogeneity coefficient and the orthotropic material properties instead of a single flexural rigidity. Numerical results, useful for the validation or otherwise of approximate solutions, are tabulated. The influences of the degree of the inhomogeneity, aspect ratio, thickness parameter and degree of non-uniformity on the deflections and stresses are investigated.
