An analysis of over-relaxation in a kinetic approximation of systems of conservation laws

The over-relaxation approach is an alternative to the Jin–Xin relaxation method in order to apply the equilibrium source term in a more precise way. This is also a key ingredient of the lattice Boltzmann method for achieving second-order accuracy. In this work, we provide an analysis of the over-relaxation kinetic scheme. We compute its equivalent equation, which is particularly useful for devising stable boundary conditions for the hidden kinetic variables.

Fourth-order problems with fully nonlinear boundary conditions

Differential inequality method, bounding function method and topological degree are applied to obtain the existence criterions of at least one solution for the general fourth-order differential equations under nonlinear boundary conditions, and many existing results are complemented.     

Commutators, C0-semigroups and resolvent estimates

We study the existence and the continuity properties of the boundary values on the real axis of the resolvent of a self-adjoint operator H in the framework of the conjugate operator method initiated by Mourre. We allow the conjugate operator A to be the generator of a C₀-semigroup (finer estimates require A to be maximal symmetric) and we consider situations where the first commutator [H,iA] is not comparable to H. The applications include the spectral theory of zero mass quantum field models.     

Group classification of unsteady boundary layer equations of a class of non-Newtonian fluids

Two dimensional unsteady boundary layer equations of a general model of non-Newtonian fluids were investigated in this study. In this model, the shear stress is taken as an arbitrary function of the velocity gradient. Group classification of the equations with respect to shear stress is done using two different approaches: (1) classical theory (2) equivalence transformations. Both approaches yield identical results. It is found that the principle Lie Algebra extends only for cases of Newtonian and Power-Law flows.     

Existence of two solutions of m-point boundary value problem for second order dynamic equations on time scales

In this paper, by means of a new twin fixed-point theorem in a cone, the existence of at least two positive solutions of m-point boundary value problem for second order dynamic equations on time scales is considered.
