From flash photolysis data of benzil and 2,2′-dichlorobenzil, the role of conformeric triplets in the formation of hydrogen
adduct radicals has been discussed. The planar relaxed triplet absorbing at 470 nm is less efficient in forming a hydrogen
adduct radical as compared to its puckered conformeric partner. Among the hydrogen donors, triethyl amine and isopropanol,
the former is more efficient in converting puckered triplets and less efficient in the case of planar conformers. Absorptions
of radicals and radical anions of 2,2′-dichlorobenzil appear at 355 nm and 460 nm respectively. These are blue-shifted as
compared to those of the parent compound benzil appearing at 370 nm and 540 nm, respectively. This blue-shift has been discussed
in terms of steric hindrance due to ortho-substitution. 相似文献

We have studied the temperature dependence of the radiative deactivation of the Pd-porphine triplet states in Shpol’skii matrices
in the temperature range 1.2–210 K. A substantial transformation of the phosphorescence spectra is observed as the temperature
increases and is due to the inclusion of thermally activated Pd-porphine states in the radiative deactivation processes. The
activation energy Ea of these Pd-porphine states is measured in matrices of n-octane and n-nonane. The splitting of the lowest quasidegenerate
triplet state ΔE(T2−T1) is determined for planar and distorted conformations of the Pd-porphine macrocycle in the n-octane matrix as 40 and 57 cm−1, respectively. The ability to use the temperature dependence of the phosphorescence properties of Pd-porphine to fabricate
molecular thermometers for the low-temperature range is analyzed.

The constants of binding dye molecules with the micelles of sodium dodecyl sulfate are determined using quenching of delayed fluorescence of acridine dyes by sodium iodide in aqueous–micellar solutions. Kinetic equations have been composed that describe the processes of deactivation of the excited states of dyes. By solving these equations at the concentration of the quencher sodium iodide corresponding to the minimum lifetime of triplet states and at the concentration of micelles corresponding to the least value of the delayed fluorescence quenching rate constants, we obtained the constants of binding dyes with micelles equal to 1.3·107, 2.9·107, and 3.1·107 M–1 for trypaflavine, acridine orange, and acridine yellow, respectively. The properties of the triplet excited state of [60] fullerene-containing cyclic sulphoxide have been investigated by time-resolved absorption spectroscopy. Transient absorption bands of [60] fullerene-containing cyclic sulphoxide showed two decay-components, which wrer attributed to triplet excited states of different spin multiplicity. Aggregated aromatic molecule--cyclodextrin-precipitant complexes exhibit long-lived phosphorescence at room temperature in water after the chemical binding of oxygen. The temperature dependences of the phosphorescence lifetimes of naphthalene-h8, naphthalene-de, and phenanthrene in the aggregates were measured. For example, the phosphorescence lifetimes of naphthalene-d8 aggregated with -cyclodextrin and cyclohexane are equal to 25.1, 17.6, and 6.8 s at 77, 276, and 347 K, respectively, and that of phenanthrene aggregated with isooctane and -cyclodextrin are 3.24, 3.06, and 1.26 s at 268, 274, and 335 K, respectively. A comprehensive photophysical and spectroscopic study of a new class of p-phenylenevinylene oligomers (PPV-trimers) possessing different alkyl and alkyloxy sidechain substituents and different end groups (aldehyde, CC, phenylene and anthracene units) was undertaken in solution at room temperature (293 K), low temperature (77 K) and in thin films. The study comprises absorption, emission and triplet–triplet absorption spectra, together with quantitative measurements of quantum yields (fluorescence, intersystem crossing, internal conversion and singlet oxygen formation) and lifetimes. The data allow the determination of rate constants for all decay processes. From these, several conclusions could be drawn. Changing from alkyl to alkyloxy substituents does not change fluorescence and internal conversion yields but decreases the (already small) intersystem crossing yield. The introduction of anthracene at the terminal ends of the PPV-trimers leads to the lowest fluorescence yield reported in this study. Of particular importance is the fact that the fluorescence quantum yields in films are of the same order of magnitude as those in solution, which suggests the potential for use of these oligomers for light-emitting device applications. With one of the alkyloxy derivatives, a more detailed study of the early part of the fluorescence decay was made, and it was found that upon excitation a fast conformational relaxation process of the initially excited oligomer occurs, leading to a more planar conjugation segment. 相似文献

The photoprocesses of a series of N-substituted dibenz[b,f]azepines (iminostilbenes) were studied by absorption and emission spectroscopy, by laser flash photolysis, and by preparative irradiation with NMR analysis. In solutions, 2pi+2pi photodimers of N-cyano and N-acyl dibenzazepines are formed via the triplet state upon acetone- or benzophenone-sensitized energy transfer. T-T absorption spectra were measured and absorption coefficients were determined. The triplet energy transfer is equally efficient for N-alkyl dibenzazepines, which do not dimerize. Excited states of npi* character in the latter cases are discussed to rationalize the different reactivities. In spite of negligible intersystem crossing of 21 dibenzazepine derivatives, photodimers of N-acyl and N-cyano dibenzazepines are formed upon direct excitation in concentrated solutions (0.01-0.1 mol dm(-3)) as well as in the solid state. The transition state of addition of free radicals and atoms to multiple bonds is considered as a result of intersecting of two parabolic potential curves. One of them characterizes the stretching vibration of the attacked multiple bond, and another curve characterizes the stretching vibration of the bond formed in the transition state. The force constant of the latter is calculated by an empirical equation that correlates the force constant with the bond dissociation energy. In the framework of this model, the thermally neutral activation energy (E
e0) and the elongation of the attacked and formed bonds (r
e) in the transition state were calculated from the experimental data (activation energy (E
e) and enthalpy of reaction (H
e)) for the addition of an H atom and methyl, alkoxyl, aminyl, triethylsilyl, and peroxyl radicals to the C=C bond and the addition of H and CH3 to the C=O and CC bonds. Analysis of the data obtained showed that E
e0 depends linearly on the |H
e| + Ee sum, i.e., Ee0/kJ mol–1 = 14.2 + 0.61 · (Ee – H
e), and the bond elongation in the transition state for addition of the most part of radicals to ethylene and acetylene vary within (0.65–0.87)·10–10 m.
